Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2348 comments I'd be interested in a buddy read for the third Kingkiller book, but I'll probably just wait until it's released and then check with other residents of the nursing home I'll be in by that time.

The coolest thing about this group is that they're laid back. They just want you to be respectful, read great books, talk about all of your reading adventures, and meet people with the same reading tastes as you do. That way you'll never have to read a book alone again, unless by choice of course! I've read both of Rothfuss' books, they were great! Life stopped for me for the first book as I read it in 3 days! So, I hope you enjoy it when you do pick it up!

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments Hope you guys enjoy name of the wind I have it a high rating but I think I was too forgiving for it since I felt name of the wind wasn't as good as everyone thought it was but that's just me hopr you have it better

There's a lot of us here who didn't like NotW, myself included, but I think everybody needs to decide for themselves.

I didn't have an issue with what you wrote. My comment was merely an addendum.

Agreed. I really think it's one of those books you either love or you hate. I tried to read it 3x which is crazy and still couldn't finish it.

Sounds like a very interesting book, but I wouldn't be able to read it until October since I'm going to be reading Cold Counsel :(.

I plan to start that soon. Have you already reread ths first one? Or do you know when you want to read it?

message 1111: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments Hi. Would anybody be interested in giving a try to The War of the Flowers by Tad Williams? It's been sitting on my bookshelf for a long time now, but I need some motivation to read it as it is a bit big. :)

message 1112: by Ahdam (new)

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments I've been wanting to get into tad Williams again Laura (still me to read memory sorrow thron unfortunately) and the book sounds interesting so I wouldn't mind joining although it will have to be in October November

message 1113: by Sha (new)

Sha | 1522 comments I may be up for re-reading the Temeraire books, depending on how busy (or not busy) I am. Temeraire is one of my comfort reads. Especially books 3-7.

message 1114: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments October or November would be great Ahdam. Anytime that fits you best. I'll leave it up to you. And thanks for volunteering. :)

message 1115: by Ahdam (new)

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments No worries wanted to read more Tad Williams and I think November would do for me since I have a lot of space then

message 1116: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments I don't have anything planned for November except a small BR on the 8th. I think? 🤔 Would mid November do? We can change the date later if it's inconvenient.

message 1117: by Ahdam (new)

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments That would be good I only good the dragon reborn on the 1st so mid november is fine with me

message 1118: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments great! I'll ask for the thread then. :)

@Meagan: I have all the books, except for the last one. Still need to buy it. I need to reread the first book, but after that, if you still are looking for a buddy for the second book, I'll join you. When are you planning on reading it?

For those already partway through Malazan or if you haven't read any Ian Esslemont books Samir and I are looking to read Night of Knives (Malazan Empire #1) in December. It's only just over 300 pages.

message 1121: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 1578 comments Meagan, I started a new job and haven't had much time for reading. I'm not sure when or if I would be able to catch up. Hope you enjoy the reading though!

message 1122: by Sha (new)

Sha | 1522 comments This is not a buddy read request but I'm not sure where else to take this.

If I want to sign up for any of the challenges is there a place where I keep track of them? The challenge intro threads seem empty of that and I am easily confused.

Yes - if you're using the desktop version, at the top right above the general folder there's a create topic in green that you click on. Then you fill out the challenge name and put it in the right challenge folder. Lmk if you have any issues. :)

message 1124: by Niki Hawkes, I made it past GOTM... barely (new)

Niki Hawkes - The Obsessive Bookseller | 7639 comments Mod
Or I can totally set one up for you. Just let me know which ones you'd like to do. If you set it up yourself, it gives you more power to change things.

message 1125: by Sha (new)

Sha | 1522 comments Thank you very much for the offer, but I think I'd better learn to do it myself. :) It works better in the long run.

Also I haven't even gone through all of the challenges yet PLUS everything so far sounds interesting. I'm having a hard time choosing one.

Thank you for the help!

Within just the forum there's a keyword search if you know what you're looking for. On the site click on community and then quotes which will bring you to a page where you can search.

There's already a folder and schedule. If you're looking for something faster you can always propose it.

- A Game of Thrones - Starts December 1, 2017
- A Clash of Kings - February 1, 2018
- A Storm of Swords - April 1, 2018
- A Feast for Crows - June 1, 2018
- A Dance with Dragons - August 1, 2018

Do you have a proposed schedule for the four books you're looking to read? Most of the time we do one book per month or every other month but you're welcome to try going straight through if that's your intention. Stating your full plan will help attract readers.

- A Clash of Kings - ASAP
- A Storm of Swords - ?
- A Feast for Crows - ?
- A Dance with Dragons - ?

message 1147: by S.E. (new)

S.E. Zell | 11 comments I'm a pretty fast reader, but I'm willing to stretch it out some. I was thinking three weeks apart:

- A Feast for Crows - October 17
- A Dance with Dragons - November 7
