Hey guys, anyone up for The Book of Jhereg by Steven Brust in July? I got the compilation novel, and was thinking July 15th for a start date.
I'd love to join for Jhereg. It's on my list of series I'd like to complete, but I need a reread of that one before moving on. :)
Nice, Niki - it was on my to-read list forever! I went to the bookstore without my trusty Goodreads shopping list, but there it was - hard name not to recognize, I can't wait to read it.Anyone else for The Book of Jhereg on July 15?
Great - so I'm a bit on the new side here. How do you guys do the buddy reads here? Should I post anything on a topic, or maybe just shoot out a reminder around the beginning of July?
You generally ask one of the mods to make a thread for the buddy read you selected Dan. I normally ask Angela, Scott or Jenna for the threads for buddy reads I suggest. Then you post on that thread the beginning date of the buddy read.
I recommended the library buy an ebook copy of Crossroads of Canopy and I'm first on the waitlist. I should get the book in 10-18 days. If anybody has interest and can do a flexible start.
I would be interested in it Scott. I got it as a present just a few days back but didn't bother about it as it seems to have a lot of bad reviews. It's a short one so I can squeeze it in between the 2 series I have planned for next month. And I don't mind the date either.
Could we set up a BR folder for Stormlight Archive? Not sure how that works exactly haha. Looks like we have at least four people who want to do it, including myself, and I'm sure we could get some others in on it. July 1st?
I'm stubbornly thinking I'll like crossroads of canopy even though I haven't seen a good review for it yet.

I noticed a lot of bad reviews so I put my hold on suspension. Maybe in a few months we can do it? They purchased three other books I want to read more all in the same day.
City of Miracles
The Remnant
With Blood Upon the Sand

I don't even know what I'm in for - I'm going into it knowing absolutely nothing about the story or the author! This was one I added purely on general reviews and the cool title ;)

I plan to reread the first two, so I would be happy to join you all for this!

Is this the first book in the series yall have read? I looked it up and the author said you can kind of read them in any order, do you find that to be the case?
C.P. And Elizabeth, Oh awesome ^_^. I've actually read both books twice already, and it looks like most of the people getting in on the BR are re-reading, which should be a lot of fun! They're the only books I will have ever read three times haha =].

It's the only one I've read, but I decided to go along with the publisher's order rather than chronological order, which means starting with Jhereg. It was a pretty decent introduction. :) Also, the author couldn't really give me a solid reading order outside of that, so there we are haha.

It's probably still my favourite of the entire series if I'm honest!

You and me both! I'm new to BR, starting my first one in 6 days!
I don't have any of those 3 Scott and I am not sure I can get them very soon. Blood Upon the Sands especially sounds great but I haven't read the first in that series either.
Hey guys. I have 7 separate Vlad Taltos books. The first 3 of them would be the Book of Jehreg that we are planning the buddy read for right?
Hi all, I found the old Stormlight Archives threads. I've commented so it's visible again.

I've started a thread for The Book of Jhereg in Standalones. We can always move it to it's own folder later on if you guys continue with the series.

Thanks Angela. Quick question, the one I got is called The Book of Jhereg, and is only around 450 pages yet has the first three books. Are there more books in the series as well? It's hard to tell. And in the same vein, I'm down for this particular buddy read being all 3 of those first books in the volume I have, or we can just do Book One - depends on what you all have in front of you :)
I have double checked Dan and I myself have 10 books in the Vlad Taltos series: Jhereg, Yendi, Teckla, Taltos, Phoenix, Athyra, Orca, Dragon, Issola and Dzur. Could you please check if the first 3 are included in your book? as far as I have noticed the series is still ongoing and has more than 15 books.
Maybe post this question in the book thread and then you can gauge what others think who are planning to read the book. We can always change topic names to suit what you guys decide. :)

Elizabeth and I are reading the 4th book in the Heartstrikers series A Dragon of a Different Color by Rachel Aaron on 7/28/17 if anyone would like to join. :) It's an awesome urban fantasy/fantasy/ya hybrid from one of my favorite authors. Everyone should totally catch up with the first three books and join us. ;P
Would one of our awesome mods mind setting up a folder for us?

I've been saving it for our road trip and it just so happens that our road trip is at the end of July, so that works out perfectly!

It's book 3 that I have been saving for my road trip. I forgot I still haven't read that one.
Could someone help me find the wheel of time thread? I feel like I'm just missing it somewhere. I need the start date. :)

Any other fans of The Broken Earth series up for a buddy read of the big finale (The Stone Sky) when it comes out in mid-August?

I probably won't be ready for opening day but might be able to do a few weeks out. I've been holding off starting the series until the series has gotten closer to completion and now I've waited too long and I don't know that I'll get the first two books in before that.
