Hello,
I'm looking for a buddy read for Wizard's First Rule if anyone is interested.
I'm open to any starting date

Myriam, when do you think about reading it? If it is towards the end of next week and beginning of the week after at the earliest, I would join you:)))

I'd be interested (it'd be a re-read for me).

Great let's find a starting date

Yes that could work for. Around November 20 ?

Great thank you ! :)
Great thank you ! :)

So when are we starting?... soon?
So when are we starting?... soon?
Being selfish... I'm thinking in a week for Turn Coat. I'm planning to start The Lost Metal as soon as it releases Tuesday and I just don't read fast enough to finish a Dresden in time lol
Narilka wrote: "Being selfish... I'm thinking in a week for Turn Coat. I'm planning to start The Lost Metal as soon as it releases Tuesday and I just don't read fast enough to finish a Dresden in time lol"1 week works. I'm behind on stuff anyway :)
Just started the The Name of the Wind! Currently on chapter 26 if anyone wants to join me :) Regularly updating my thoughts on the book through status update, I'm a slow reader so probably will finish it in 3 weeks
Akira, would you like to have a thread for it? And are you sure you want to tackle the series now, since we have no idea when the next book is going to come out? That is the main reason I have not read it yet, but I will join you if you want company:)))
Akira, it has been 11 years since the second book in the series and no sign in sight that he will ever finish book 3... He was revising it in 2015...
Choko wrote: "Akira, would you like to have a thread for it? And are you sure you want to tackle the series now, since we have no idea when the next book is going to come out? But so far the book is very promising! The language is a lot more intricate than that in Mistborn. I would love the company and let me know if you'd like to join :)
Also I have no idea how to start a thread - is it a discussion post just for the series?
Although I'm sure everyone probably noticed already--just in case...Goodreads Choice Awards are up!
If anyone has read any of the books on the list, I'd really love to hear y'all's thoughts on them! I started two of the books and am planning on tearing through as many as I can and leaving comments behind...

So... Wayward Children Gang... when are we reading Lost in the Moment and Found?... comes out January 10th...
Tonari no Emily wrote: "@Iain, a week after the release perhaps? Cant wait for that one!"That would work for me as well.
Nirkatze wrote: "Children of Time people--I just asked this in the thread, but any date preferences? I was thinking of starting near the end of December..."I’d love to be a part of this buddy read if you’re looking for another person ☺️
Timelord Iain wrote: "So... Wayward Children Gang... when are we reading Lost in the Moment and Found?... comes out January 10th..."I’m planning on getting the Kindle version asap, but happy to wait for others if it’s going to be a buddy read. I’m a little nervous about this one but hopefully it’ll be good.

We're planning to read all 3 in the Children of Memory thread: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

We tend to schedule BRs for a week after release around here, as a quirk of our yearly reading competition rules... but we know and expect some people to start on release day... I'll be requesting a thread for this in a few minutes...
I can't tell if this one is about an entirely new character or not... I think Seanan mentioned she's Sumi's new roommate in present day times... assuming his is in the past, I dunno...

I need to read Firekeeper's Daughter and The Christie Affair for local book clubs by next Friday 12/9, if anyone is interested in joining me. :)
I am interested in reading the cycle of arawn / galand series by Edward W. Robertson. It looks like two new books came out, one in 2019 and the other in 2021 and I somehow missed it. Would anyone like to do a Edward W. Robertson read with me?I am also open to reading the series on my own in preparation for the last two books: “What lies beyond” #6 and the “the twelve plagues” #7

January is looking pretty busy though... and I have a lot of audio to catch up on before then. Do you have an idea of when you'd like to start?
Yeah, I am in the same boat as Nirkatze. Interested for sure, but so many things to read in the next month...
Sisters Grimm: 1/mo 9 books, Jan-Sept. (short)Chronicles of Amber: 1/mo 10 books Jan-Oct (short)
Sun Eater: 1/mo 5 books + shorts (long)
Heartstrikers: ??/mo 5 books (shortish)
October Daye ??/mo 17 books (medium) I'm guessing these'll be book-club style negotiating next book when ready
Looking at that... Maybe we could start Arawn at the halfway point next year? Some of the ongoing BRs'll hopefully be winding down by then... any suggestions for book-club-style one thread or each-book threads?
Also, I've been chatting in TV thread with awesome folks and we're thinking of doing an Lord of the Rings BR.I'm thinking June, July, August, with maybe dropping the Hobbit in May. Any thoughts on adding Hobbit, and timing?
Heartstrikers is scheduled monthly in the thread, I think… October Daye isn’t official yet, I don’t think?… that one was suggested by Tonari no Emily?…

I'm totally up for a LoTR buddy read!! I've been meaning to read it for yeaarrrrs now. Although I think I'd like to try tackling The Silmarillion first, if only because my brother keeps hounding me to read it haha. I'm opening to whatever timing really~
Timelord Iain wrote: "Heartstrikers is scheduled monthly in the thread, I think… October Daye isn’t official yet, I don’t think?… that one was suggested by Tonari no Emily?…"There's a buddy read thread already set up for Rosemary and Rue. https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Shows how much I know/remember from 55 days ago…

I only knew it because it was a buddy read I was planning on joining. 55 days is a long time ago, lol.
I was on the fence about joining... I've re-read the series 3-4x... love it... and it was tossed around the Vagabond thread before moving here...
Maybe another re-read will give me the impetus I need to read all the Patreon content I've been neglecting... Tybalt stuff from the 1600s, and who knows what else...

You should totally read it with us, Iain!!! *trying to seduce people into reading beyond human capacities just as Iain does to us!*

I'd love to do a BR of this one too! Finally gets me motivated to attempt the series for the third time. lol. Any of those months would work for me! Nothing scheduled yet. May would be cool for the Hobbit too :D
Alright, I'm going to put in official threads for this one. :) I think I'll leave Silmarillion off--but if anyone wants to read & comment, maybe go for it in the Hobbit thread?
Anyone interested in any of these for any time next year?Unbound
Dorothy Must Die
Oath of Fealty
A Darkness Forged in Fire
Forging Divinity
Attrition: the First Act of Penance
Darkhaven
Broken Blade
Traitor's Blade
Malice
Nevernight
The Eyes of the Dragon
Retribution Falls
Elizabeth, I am interested in most of these, I have had at least half of them on my TBR for a while... Which one do you want to tackle first and what is your time frame?
I have Unbound, Oath of Fealty, Traitor's Blade and Nevernight on my TBR. Others look fun too. Ditto-ing Choko's question.
A Darkness Forged in Fire and Broken Blade are both on my 'read book one but never finished the series' shelf so I'd be happy to read both/either next year.
All of these have also been on my list for ages. They're all part of my oldest first challenge for next year so really I have no timeframe for when I want to read them except I want to have read at least book one in all those series by end of 2023.
Hmmm...Interesting list... Possibly will join in reading at least few of them if/when grab them into my hands :)
Anyone want to close the year with Strange the Dreamer with me?And I might as well jump on the bandwagon for next year BRs;
I want to start the year with The Forgetting Moon by Brian Lee Durfree.
Also wanted to do ASOIF re-read somewhere in the middle of the year, tho, If I join LOTR that'll probably take a lot of my time...
I'm not much of a planner, would rather pick them up when the mood takes me, but just a FYI as to others I'm interested in trying:
Reign & Ruin
The Red Knight
Legend by David Gemmell (can't find the link!)
