I've been sick too - hope you feel better soon. The internet things will happen as they can. R&R is the most important now.

Saar The Book owl | 3089 comments Anyone who wants to read The Ranger of Marzanna (The Goddess War, #1) by Kelley Skovron with me? I'll have my copy around November 5th from the library.

Definitely varies by illness for me... some, I just want to do nothing or sleep to try and help it pass... others, I've got nothing better to do than listen to more books...

I'm definitely on the mend, tho... best night of sleep I've had all week... coughing has largely passed... nose is a black hole, cleaning out my system... neosporin definitely helped with the tender nose from rough work tissues yesterday (I've been doing partial days and leaving early)... called in today to hopefully get through the nonstop nose blowing phase and be almost normal tomorrow...

When were we starting the In Death Iron Man Challenge, Choko?

November 1st, later? Checking since I'd probably need to get that thread sorted and setup soon...

message 7265: by Saar The Book owl (new)

Saar The Book owl | 3089 comments Yes, I understand that. When I had covid, I wasn't in the mood for reading, same with the flu. Only a couple of days to get rid of the last tracks of your cold and then you will be back to normal.

message 7266: by Choko (new)

Choko (chokog) | 12597 comments How about the 10th of November? For the In Death series...

Shaitarn | 2185 comments Choko wrote: "How about the 10th of November? For the In Death series..."

Choko would it be okay if we pushed it on a couple of days and made it sometime between the 12th - 14th November? Even if we're reading one a week the end or the beginning of the week would make a more logical starting point (for me at least).

message 7268: by Choko (new)

Choko (chokog) | 12597 comments Totally cool with that! I was just throwing a date out there. The 14th then?

message 7269: by Brian (new)

Brian | 1679 comments That date works for me too.

If everyone's okay with it, the 14th would be great.

Nirkatze | 20920 comments Best of health to everyone!

I think I'll just read Mexican Gothic in Vagabond, since no one seems actively interested. :)

@Saar--Ranger of Marzana looks interesting, but I am afraid I am way overbooked right now. >.<

@Choko re: In-Death--are you making a series thread or book club thread for this?

Speaking of Book Club Threads--I went ahead and made a thread for the Goodreads Choice Awards, when they get together. Usually they get started second week in November or so. Looking forward to reading with folks! Thread [here] ... I already started posting.

message 7275: by Gaea (new)

Gaea | 275 comments I'm definitely interested in the thread for reading the Goodreads Choice Awards. Don't know if I'll be able to keep up but I'll be trying to read as much of them as possible~

Choko (chokog) | 12597 comments Nirkatze, a series thread, since it is a never ending series, or at least feels like it:))) It is a fun series though, and I hope you could join us:)))

XD I'm going to try! I have the first 3 on audio. After that, we'll see.

@Saar--will you leave your thoughts on one of the book club threads for us just in case?

message 7279: by Peggy (new)

Peggy | 276 comments hi, I'm looking for some scary book recommendations, I've already tried a few but none of them actually scares me, so it's a little bit frustrating searching like this,
help please...

message 7280: by Narilka (new)

Narilka | 5674 comments @Peggy, we have a book recommendations thread. You should post there too: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

I'm not much for scary so I don't have any useful recommendations :)

Sure, no problem, I'm happy to do that. Still waiting on my copy, but it shouldn't take long anymore.

I made the Iron Man In Death Buddy Read Challenge thread (in book club folder, since I see some series in there like Realm of the Elderlings)...

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

And I made a BR Request in the BR Request Form, which I then fulfilled myself, so it'll appear on the Upcoming Buddy Reads list sheet, for the next 30-40 days :D

Beena (beenz) | 2196 comments Peeps, who were BR-ing acts of Caine: Ok, I've calmed down a bit and am ready to give the last book a try lol. Would everyone be up for it in a week or so's time? We can easily get a thread in time, now that Yanique's thread master.

message 7286: by Nirkatze (new)

Nirkatze | 20920 comments So, folks're planning on reading Children of Memory come January 30 in [this] thread, and I've always wanted to read some Adrian Tchaikovsky but haven't made it around to them.

Anyone interested in trying to read the first two books to catch up in time for that BR?
Children of Time
Children of Ruin

@Choko, Iain, Brian--if there're any takers, do you mind if we use your book 3 thread, or do you want us to make our own?

message 7287: by Beena (new)

Beena (beenz) | 2196 comments @Laura & Emily: Ah, great guys! Choko said she's down too. I also messaged Mayim, but I haven't seen her online for a while, I'm sure she'll catch up.

I'll request a thread for the 14th Nov :)

I don't mind turning it into a series thread for people catching up... this is a great series that seemed like a standalone at the start...

I was open to starting the next one soon... I asked a few weeks ago, when one person hadn't started the September book yet, I think?...

We're getting really close to the BIG ONE (#12)... just need to read #11 first...

hehe that was me :) The only other BR I have is The Lost Metal, which will take priority. Since I'm just reading a couple short stories right now, my schedule is flexible.
