LOL, I can see everything you're saying--I'm just easy to please. :) There's nothing wrong with having standards or being able to analyze well! *bows to Soo's curmudgeon yoga ball*
@Em--how are you liking it? I might swing by the store and pick it up tomorrow. :)
@ Nirkatze: thanks for the interest and no worries,I am a pretty slow reader nowadays. Alright, I'll ask for a thread then.
I'd be down to read House of Sky and Breath! But, like always the last months, my pre-order is being delayed :(
Nirkatze wrote: "And on books note, the new Sarah J. Maas is either out as of yesterday or out soon: House of Sky and Breath--anyone interested in that within the next month or so? But I'm interested to see where it goes next.
How does late March-early-April sound for House of Sky and Breath? Give folks time to tie up BRs and have their copies come in?
Nirkatze wrote: "How does late March-early-April sound for House of Sky and Breath? Give folks time to tie up BRs and have their copies come in?"Works for me! I don't have too many BRs planned yet!
Damn, Nirkatze, now I'm going to have to add another BR to my already too long list!!! Have mercy!!! hahahaha
I am so sorry! >.<I'm going to go ahead and put in a request for April 5. Hopefully that's far enough out that it won't be too crowded...
I haven't read Maas' new series yet, I'm tempted, but I think I'll wait until the whole trilogy (?) is done... there are some aspects of this one that do put me off, but I am a fan of hers, so I'll eventually try it out.
In an interview on NPR, Maas said the following:(https://www.npr.org/2020/03/15/815828...)
MAAS: Yeah. Right now, we have three books under contract. But this world is already so big and there's so many characters that I have a feeling it's going to go beyond three books. And it will depend on the story that calls to me and the characters that call to me. But I definitely am looking beyond the core plot that will take place over the three books and seeing, you know, what other stories might be around for me to tell afterward.
It's hard for me to say goodbye to characters after just three books. I mean, all of my series have been really long. And yeah, I mean, there's a reason why "Crescent City" was 800 pages...

When in March are you reading Redwall? I could use something light right now
I haven't started yet! My local club is getting together next Friday to talk about it, so I was going to jump in this coming week.I'm excited to try the audio--I did some research on Brian Jacques (I did the introductory presentation for the club), and it turns out he wrote the book when he started regularly stopping in to read stories at a local school for the blind in Liverpool. He was dissatisfied with the melancholy and moral-oriented stories for children at the time, and so wrote a book rich with description that was really meant to be read aloud. He also was very involved in the audiobook creation and got his friends and family to act out the voice cast.
How do you feel about reading and commenting over in the Vagabond Treehouse? Then we won't have to bug the mods for a short-notice BR thread. I was planning on starting Monday, but I don't mind jumping in earlier than that either.
For anyone interested in joining Cloud Cuckoo land in June, here's the discussion link: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Oh yay! Yes, we can use the Vagabound Treehouse discussion post for the Redwall thread! Make it nice and simple.
I think Monday is okay for starting? I just gotta find a copy myself. I'll keep you posted!
Thanks for sharing info about the author! I had no idea about that!! I started watching the tv show as a kid and adored it. But to hear why he wrote the story that way. To immerse the kids. Gosh. That's adorable <3
Hi guys. I don't usually do this, but I was thinking about starting the Chronicles of St. Mary's, by Jodi Taylor. Would anyone like to join me? I was thinking about starting it the second half of May and reading a book a week. ...
Emily, that is awesome! We can start it the Monday after we finish the MFTT series and discuss them in the Vagabond thread:)))
Choko wrote: "Emily, that is awesome! We can start it the Monday after we finish the MFTT series and discuss them in the Vagabond thread:)))"Totally down for that! I think I picked the whole thing up at the last audible sale so yay!
I don't know about the rest of the series because I'd already purchased it all, but somehow I missed book 3 and it was only $4 on a 24 hour sale. Maybe the others are too?

I should have checked this thread first, before answering in the Vagabond. So we replace one Time Traveling series with another:)))
This series looks serious!!! Nice amount of books to read :) I'll add it to my TBR list. Maybe will read at least one till end of year :)
Kinda last minute, but would anyone wanna read The House in the Cerulean Sea with me anytime soon? :D
Choko wrote: "Katie K, I will read it with you. Just say when:))"Aww, thanks Choko! Would it be okay if we started tomorrow??
Also, would the YA thread be a good place to post thoughts for the last minute read? What do you think? :D
If someone can link to the YA thread (I have no idea where I'm looking), I'd haunt the House in the Cerulean Sea conversation--I absolutely adored that book.
Anyone wanna read any of these with me? I'll probably be starting soon.
Or a reread of this series, since the last book comes out in November:

I had a less than stellar response to the story written in #1. It wasn't as well-developed as her other series. I didn't like details not fitting in well. The age of the characters, their speech and actions did not line up well for me. I think the world setting is great, but the story had too many plot holes and jagged edges for me.
It's times like this that lets me know how much more jaded I've become. Bah bum book hum? XD
