Save a lot of time for House of chains. If it is your first time through it is a complete change of pace from the previous book. (The second time through i love this book, the first time a bit of a slog).

I've read Gardens of the Moon 3x, I think... the 2nd book twice... the 3rd book once... and haven't made it to book 4+ yet... I keep getting sidetracked by other things...
Basically decided I need to go at my own pace at some point, instead of monthly BRs...

Elizabeth - yes to House of Chains. April perhaps? I need time to get through some physical reads first. I’ve kept decent track off all the things. I will need three months to read it if you’re game lol.

Hope you love it. It is a series that only gets better with each re-read too.

I would hold off on Kharkhanas trilogy since no end of the trilogy is in sight and read it when the third book is on the horizon. I have to read the God is Not Willing Myself. I don't know how I've held myself back all these months.

So generally when we decide on a date, then someone will create a request through this form: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...
Though since I am probably going to join, once you all decide dates, I can just set it up.
Malazan actually has its own folder here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

To space it out with one every month, shall we start Gardens of the Moon this month? Maybe mid-late Jan to give people who don't have the book a chance to get it?

Since ive read that one at least twice i think i might be able to. What do you think Julian?

It took me one year to read the first. Nine months to read the second. Three for the third. One month per might be pushing it but at least you’d be fresh with characters.

Maybe we can set the first one for late January and then adjust the schedule as needed?

Already got a fair bit of BRs set up with people this month, but I've got a shortlist of other things I want to read this month, as well, and wanted to see if anyone wanted to join me (not really looking to delay into later this year, sorry)(most are pretty short):
The Conjuring of Zoth-Avarex: The Self-Proclaimed Greatest Dragon in the Multiverse -- 7hr audiobook, available on Hoopla
A Spindle Splintered -- 4hr audiobook... seems to be in a similar vein as Wayward Children, in that regard...
Later series books, bit more flexible on timing:
The Last Graduate -- Scholomance #2 (Niki?, anyone?)
The Free Bastards -- Lot Lands #3 (Soo?, anyone?)
Untold Story -- Invisible Library #8 (not until the audio releases, so probably late January / early February) (RachelG?, anyone?)
And, sometime this year:
The Fall of Babel -- Books of Babel #4 (Frank?... the 4th book snuck out on us, should probably read it... we read the first 3 back in 2019)...
Witchshadow -- Witchlands #4 (another series I lost track of, because the releases slowed down... I know I BR'd #3 with some people)

Need to check if I can get the 1st two you listed. So, those are maybes.
Narilka, I'm in for the Lost Metal. Just need to read the Bands of Mourning before #7 is released. Plenty of time. =)

Ive only read 1 and 2 i think so id be down!
Narilka wrote: "@Iain I received Witchshadow for Christmas :) We can buddy read it in Feb or Mar if that sounds good. Either it's own thread or over in Vagabond Treehouse."
Works for me...
EDIT: should have said more... Vagabond is fine with me, if it's just us... if other join, I can request a thread around Feb 14th?... that's when they used to release before all the delays started... seems Dennard wrote another trilogy unrelated... I saw it on Hoopla...

It sounds like the people that read the first Mistborn trilogy wanted a break... maybe see if they're up for waiting until August, and reading together?... that's Beena/Paula/etc... Laura/Mayim, too, I think...

I'm thinking Feb/March for Fall of Babel... Petrik's review was horrible, and I remember having problems with book 3... so I want to make sure I have plenty of time for it...
Free Bastards we can do later this month... probably not until the 15th or so, let all the early BRs wind down...

I also have The Conjuring of Zoth-Avarex: The Self-Proclaimed Greatest Dragon in the Multiverse downloaded and was planning to read it soon. I would be up for a BR on that one as well.

Let's BR Free Bastards at Vagabond. I want to read that in the next few weeks.
I'm ok with waiting on Babel. I think the book will be so-so. Hm, I own all the audiobooks. I'll probably buy the audio.

I have a hold for A spindle splintered, when do you think youd wanna read?

I think book 2 will be out by the time you get book 1... can't remember when it comes out... Vagabond works for Lot Lands
Let's schedule Babel for mid-to-late Feb? I'll say around the 21st...

I'm up to doing Zoth-Avarex in the next few days... just need to borrow from Hoopla early one day... it has daily limits (if you're unaware) to avoid the library running out of credits before the end of the month...

Sounds good to me. I wasn't aware of Hoopla's limits. I tend to use Overdrive at my local library.

I'll join the buddy read for The Lost Metal in November.

Any Hobb fans (or potential Hobb fans!) fancy joining me?

Libraries pay for a certain amount of checkouts a month... and can then set daily limits so they don't hit their monthly limits mid-month... users have a monthly limit, but also might need to check things out in the morning to make sure they get in before the library's daily limit is hit... I can checkout 7/month... used to be 5... some libraries have limits of up to 10, I think?

Lost Metal is a no-brainer for me... was also talking about joining for a whole Wax & Wayne re-read, in the Mistborn thread, tho...
