Buddy Read Invite (Retired)
If we like it, I’d definitely like to continue but I’ll need a little time between books. So perhaps Feb pickup? We’ll see how everyone feels after reading it.

Great! I'll get it set up!

Great! I'll get it set up!

Scheduled
--------------
Way of Shadows Shaitarn, Laura - Already started, will continue after Swarm and Steel (below)
Swarm and Steel - scheduled for the 15th
Unsouled Tammie, Brian, Chris, Niki - Series starting 1st or 2nd of the year (and I guess we'll do one a month from there on).
Unscheduled
-----------------
The Steel Remains - Shaitarn, Laura
Perhaps start this series around Mid February? Happy to power read through it like we are doing with Night Angel in a single thread.
The Waking Fire - Saar
Bood of elves Saar
Gideon the Ninth Brian
Traitors Blade - Brian
We Ride the Storm - Brian, Niki
The Blacktongue Thief - Brian
I'd love to get the Blacktongue Thief in for this year in December as I strangely want to rank all the 2021 new releases I've read this year and think It'd be incomplete not to include this given all the good reviews I've seen about.
The thousand Names - Niki
the Black Company - Niki
The Last Watch - Niki
Legenda (Drenai) - Niki
The Gutter Prayer - Niki
The Desert Prince- Siobhan
The Dark the Comes Before - Laura
The Iron King - Laura
Cytonic - Laura
This was originally going to be a release day read for me, but is increasingly becoming a "when I get around to it". Unless my daughter grabs the book and insists I read it too after she devours it.
Snowcrash - Laura
A Memory Called empire - Laura
16 Ways to Defend a Walled city - laura
Feel free to suggest timing/if any of these are a priority for any of you.

Looking for some possible Buddyreads from my already owned (or not) lists. None are re-reads for me though I could do first book-rereads to some who are new to series if I started with book 2 below. Can start this year or be apart of 2022! Also some upcoming new releases
Upcoming new releases
----------------------------
Cytonic and the two novellas. I have the newly released unread as of yet. Sunreach
The God is Not Willing - I got this shipped overseas and don't know why I haven't read it yet! (still not out in the states). New Erickson Malazan series following the Crippled God!
Book 8 and Book 9 to finish off The Expanse
Old TBR shelf
-----------------------
Snow Crash- Neal Stephenson - Wee bit overdue. Been meaning to read it, well forever.
Prince of Thorns- I've somehow never read Mark Lawrence.
Hounded - Not high priority, but have owned book one for awhile now.
The Black Company- again owned a long time.
The Iron King
Theft of Swords - Another miss of mine, never read any Sullivan at all.
Lord of the Silver Bow
The Black Prism Been sitting on my shelf collecting dust awhile especially since I know people are disappointed as the series moves on.
Red Rising - yet another one that's been sitting awhile. I think I own most of the trilogy - book fair grabs.
The Waking Fire _ missed last year's buddyread.
The Way of Shadows Grabbed the trilogy in an all-in one from a book fair awhile back.
The Shadow of the Torturer
The Steel Remains
Traitor's Blade
The Thousand Names
Quillifer - got this last xmas in hardcover

The Gutter Prayer
Ship of Magic - time to continue on in this world. Loved Farseer trilogy.
Sixteen Ways to Defend a Walled City - been curious to try this series. Never read parker.
A Memory Called Empire
Unsouled
The Winter King Cornwell's take on Arthur Legends.
We Ride the Storm
Gideon the Ninth - Iain just mentioned he wants to read book two. I own the first and think I own the second already on book sale days. and book 3 is coming out. Julia is interested too and I think will be getting her own GoodReads account this December.
The Two-Faced QueenI read book one by Nick Martell last year. I have book two in hardcover. If anyone wants to get in on this.
The Last Watch - 2021 release I'm interested in.
She Who Became the Sun ditto
The Blacktongue Thief Reallly interested in this 2021 release.
The Bone Ships - own but unread.
Sword of the North - looking to finish Scull's Grim Company book 2 and 3.
The Desert Prince - got on release day in hardcover and have yet to read!
Swarm and Steel - Stand-a-lone in the Manifest Delusions series Laura and I just read. Looks like fun :) Did you read this Iain?
Blood of Elves Witcher. I've read The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny and wouldn't mind diving back in before season 2 release on Netflix.
The Darkness That Comes Before - Been on my TBR forever.
The Starless Sea - sitting on my shelf.
Oof, that's enough. :)

The Dragonbone Chair - Tad Williams (to start in Dec+)
Malice - John..."
Sorry for late response. Agreed, The dragonbone Chair was a slow read for me so moving Malice until Jan/Feb is fine.

'the Waking fire' maybe at the beginning of January and then 'Book of elves' beginning of February?
Where does 'Ship of Magic' stands in the series? I've read 'Asassin's Apprentice' and 'Royal assassin'. So maybe, I'll reread these ones fast to catch up on your books.
I still need to start 'Blood Elves Witcher'. I can catch up till where you are?

I might not join for Cytonic, book 2 annoyed me. But there's a buddy read already planned for it I thought?
I'm keen on the Darkness that comes before, just have to dig around to see if I can get an inter library loan...

Maybe the 19th of December as a start date?

Awesome. There's already a thread out there to join.

I'm right at the same point as you. I think Ship of Magic is the next in publication order from Hobb. I'm in on Unsouled series the first of January (and probably the first of the month until that series is done I think?) I think they are quick reads though (under 300 pages mostly), so maybe Second week of Jan and Feb for waking/fireBook 'o Elves?
Ship of Magic shouldn't require a reread of the original Farseer trilogy, I don't think. Different cast of characters
I haven't read Blood of Elves yet. I've only read the two short-story compiliations.

No buddy read I'm aware of for Cytonic.
I think the Scott Bakker books are pretty dense, so might have to schedule extra time for each one. not certain.
I'l put in for the steel remains series.
Book 2 of Skyward annoyed me too, so I’ve not been in a hurry to get a BR going for it either. I’ll read it with y’all though when we get around to it.
How about March for Thousand Names? Then we’ll schedule out the other series from there unless someone else hops aboard and wants to read them sooner?

I'm definitely in the mood for some flintlock fantasy. (Been missing this since the McClellan series ended). Not sure when to schedule it though. When works for you Niki?
I know, I end up loving the flintlock stuff so much, I can’t believe I’ve let this one go so long. Just to get it on the calendar, how does Monday, March 7th work?

Katie and Beena said they were reading Skyward earlier this year and we're planning to read Cytonic when it came out.
I see what you mean about Bakker, reading the reviews it does seem dense. Definitely good if we schedule extra time. I hope I've got it in me 😬

That's fine for me for 'Blood of Elves' and 'The Waking Fire'. I leave the planning for Ship of Magic to you, but maybe in March?

Hey @Slagathor and @Timelord!!! Sorry!!! I've been in a bit of a reading slump. My BRs haven't been very active so I just kinda don't read ^^;
Anyways! Would love to continue the Dresdon series with those who were interested! Fool Moon is where we would start! I'm open to any time really. Just give me a handful of days to get the book from the library.
What are everyone's reads looking like? When would be a good time for you guys?

I've kinda slumped / disappeared on scheduled BRs since Halloween... I did TONS of BRs in October... felt like all I did was BR... also doing terrible at clearing audiobook TBR... mostly progressing on the handful of series that hold my interest: Vorkosigan Saga re-read, Pendergast, Gray Man, and the occasional new release that catches my attention like Cradle this week, and Wandering Inn Volume 4 / audiobook 5 in a few weeks...

@slagathor ~ No worries! Take your time to finish them! Let's aim for 2 weeks from now then. That way I can try to finish some books too and place a hold on Fool's Moon!
One more callout to all those interested in Fool Moon. Will November 23rd work for a BR?? Let me know of any conflicts before I make the request. :D

Nov 23rd sound perfect for me! :)

November 23rd is fine with me...
I've slowed down my listening speed for over a year now, since I think I had covid... sometimes I blame it on permanent brain damage / comprehension speed associated with covid... others I acknowledge there's value in taking more time to appreciate the stories rather than listening to the cutting edge of my comprehension speed all the time...
Definitely done alot more TV/movies this year, too...
Green Bone Saga has been a low priority for me... as much as I got alot out of that first book, it took a fair bit of effort to even read it... and I don't tend to want to be forcing myself to read things these days... haven't even started book 2...

@Timelord ~ Oh no. I hope you're doing better! That sounds terrible >_<
Hey, that's totally fine! Any good tv/movies you really enjoyed this year?
I hear yah. If it's not something that's driving your forward it's not always worth it. Never force a read. Otherwise it will make things harder

For a second I was like "what medical issues did I admit to?" :D
I've been dealing with a number of things... had a golf/tennis ball sized cyst removed from my back over the summer... now I feel like I have a crater in my back where there was getting to be an uncomfortable hump...
Anyway, yea...
I've enjoyed alot of the Marvel stuff... Loki, Wandavision, Falcon & Winter Soldier, Black Widow... some of What If?...
Otherwise I've done alot of rewatches, and some new seasons... Lucifer, White Collar, Covert Affairs, 30 Rock, Castle, Leverage, Mentalist... and some new-to me stuff like X-Files, Elementary, 12 Monkeys, and some stuff I'm forgetting...
12 Monkeys was REALLY GOOD... and had some really good payoffs as well, since they seemed to have a bit of a plan in the later seasons... first season was catering to the old movie, and 2nd season forged ahead with divergent storylines building a crazy mythos... 3-4 had an event-release schedule that worked more in multi-episode story arcs...
Then I watched a bunch of random movies... Netflix originals, favorite action blockbusters, and a bunch of random romcoms with assassins and the like... Dave Bautista has like The Rock levels of random movies floating around, especially on Amazon... I really liked the one where he was a flustered CIA operative being blackmailed by a kid while trying to secretly protect the kid's mom... great casting in that movie, including Kristin Schaal as his overzealous tech support partner... and the one with Sam Rockwell and Anna Kendrick, where Rockwell is a former assassin with brain damage that now kills people that try to hire him as an assassin, because killing is bad, lol...
There's my year in TV/movies, all rambled together :D

I loved 12 Monkeys.

Are you going to read the two novella's first?

Whoa, I've never heard of this one before... I looked it up and it looks super intriguing. I've been dying to get back into some good BRs so I'd love to join you guys! Would you be starting 1/1? :D

Oh gosh. You have been dealing with a lot >_< I hope things are looking better for you <3
You've got an excellent list of shows there! Looks like we have some similar tastes in that as well :D And oh my gosh yes! Marvel has been killing it with the tv shows on Disney+ Love them! Can't wait for Hawkeye!
I have not heard of 12 Monkies before! O.O And since you and Tammie seem to enjoy it I'll have to check it out!! Love the movie ramblings. lol. I think there is a forum for that in this group somewhere? I'll really have to look XD
Some of my favorite shows this year have been : The Owl House, Camp Cretaceous, Mad For Each Other, It's Okay Not to Be Okay, Black Sails, The Way of the HouseHusband, Beastars, Nabillera, Nailed It, Outlander, WandaVision, Cobra Kai, The Crown, Kim's Convenience, and so much more tbh. I'm always on some kinda streaming service :D

Nailed It is so funny! I also loved Kim's Convenience and watched it multiple times, something I rarely do with TV shows.

Kim's Convenience is such a joy! I came back to it recently after watching Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Now I can't stop watching that show :D I totally understand the watchability. It's so light and good~

Yeah! Join us Katie!! Yeah pretty much, unless you've got any big plans for New Years and need a few days to recover lol. Depending on family coming over and stuff I might just be a couple of days, I dunno.

Yay! I'm excited to join in! Nah, no big plans for the new year ^^;

If not, would anyone like to join me? :)

Hi! There's a few of us that are looking to start this in December and would love the company. How would we be able to do a BR on here? I haven't used this site much but would love to know more.
I am so looking forward to getting to this one!

Thanks so much Rob! I really appreciate your help with this.

Rob, I think some of us said yes to Greatcoats and Red Rising too, it was me, Katie and Melissa, I think.
Did we decide on a date for these and I missed seeing it?
I’m happy to go along with all set plans but if we haven’t decided anything, shall we say April onward?
Looking at the year’s calendar, I think there’s already a lot planned for the first three months.

I hadn't yet suggested any dates. I was waiting for everything else to fall in to place? April or May even I think for me at this point

I may join the BR for Skyward #3. The audiobook is coming out in a few days. =D Not as keen on the novellas but I'll probably get those if they go on audiobook sale.
Anyone want to read the wrap up for Expanse? Leviathan Falls #9 - Audiobook comes out at the end of November. Maybe a BR on 12/1?

Btw, are you planning on reading the whole Memory, Sorrow and Thorn trilogy or only The Dragonbone Chair? If yes, how are you planning on spacing out the books? Cause none of them could be called "short" by any chance, especially the last one. ^^" But I'd love to join for all of them, had the series on my radar for some time now, but not sure if I would have started reading them on my own.
