*grins* I'm sure it'll be okay to read but I doubt it'll be a good ending. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a sequel series that will go into other aspects.
Where my Drew Hayes fans at?
Writer of such masterpieces as Super Powereds: Year 1-4, NPCs, and The Utterly Uninteresting and Unadventurous Tales of Fred, the Vampire Accountant...
Me and Soo got to talking over in the Vagabond Treehouse, and we want to BR Forging Hephaestus & Bones of the Past in March & April... the series is called Villains' Code...
Forging Hephaestus has been out a couple years now, and Bones of the Past just came out on Kindle a few weeks ago... the audio will release at the end of March, so we want to BR the first book on March 15th and the 2nd book on April 7th... anyone want to join us?

Woo! More Drew Hayes! =)I think we should ask for a thread for the series & BR both books in one thread.
Yes?

But started the Legends of First Empire series with book 1 and have only managed 4 hours in a little less than a week.
So not in a huge rush to start lol....Though perhaps a palate cleanser would be in order and rabbits might do that

Well no rush! I finally found a copy, but I'll have that for a while. So you could work through Legends of the First Empire first if you want. It's up to you :D
Chris wrote: "Katie wrote: "I'm going to try and finishing reading some books this week. So I would be able to read Watership Down earliest of 1/11. Katie, ok. I'll see how it goes for the next week or so. If I start to break out, I might be able to estimate something better.Ishan, I've read Revelations, yes. And Chronicles. In fact I've read the first 3 in Legends before, but doing a reread now to refresh before I take on the books 4-6.

I "accidentally" read Legends first which made Revelations a very different experience (and in my opinion the worse order to do so) but I still loved it.
I haven't started Chronicles yet but definitely know I should because I can't wait for Nolyn to come out. I'm always hesitant to read immediate prequels though because I get so attached to how characters are at the end of the main series and don't want to see them differently/reverted.
Ishan, oh yeah, I could see how reading Legends first would color your experience of Revelations. If you go through Chronicles, I have yet to read #4 The Disappearance of Winter's Daughter, and would BR that one.I also hope to get back to Legends this year for #3-6, before too much time passes.

Legends of the First Empire should almost definitely be the last thing you read, of the first 3 series...
The series' in general are just chock full of connections... another good example is The Death of Dulgath... you learn a lot in later LFE books about (view spoiler)...

HI all,I've been considering giving K.J. Parker a try this year and was wondering if anyone would be interested in joining too, but I need a starting point. Debating some of his newest stuff which caught my eye Sixteen Ways to Defend a Walled City or going back to his earlier materials and starting from there like the Fencer Trilogy or hitting one of his stand-alones.
And for those considering Malazan vs. Faithful and Fallen - the latter is MUCH less laborious and much more focused on specific characters and moving the plot forward, action, action, action without much in the way of subplot. In other words, I'd recommend diving into it, then the next trilogy and then going back to Malazan.Malazan is no doubt the better series in my mind, but it is far more of a commitment. I know if I ever dive back in for a 3rd re-read I can pretty much write-off reading much else the year I do it :)
Leviathan Falls #9 - Did we confirm the BR for this one? Even if it's mediocre finish, I know I'll read it. lol 10/26 - Kindle
10/28 - Hardback
Audio? Not showing on Audible.

I am definitely doing Sullivan's works wrong then. I read legends first. Hope it all works out for Riyria Revelations next month :)

Anyone interested to re-read the first 8 books?
Niki Hawkes wrote: "In one of the Gardens of the Moon threads a few of us talked about continuing on with Deadhouse Gates in January but we didn't set anything for sure. I'm wondering if anyone wants to pick it up nex..."Hi Niki,
I'm currently doing a personal re-read for the whole Malazan books. However, I'm planning to sort of binge-read the whole thing, with probably a week gap in between books. So, I don't know if that kinda schedule works for other people, though.
Anyone interested to read The Garden of Stones starting sometime next week? 20 Jan? It's a trilogy, I might continue with the series if I like the first book.
Barry, I'm planning to re-read the Expanse books before the latest comes out. I'll probably start mid-to-late summer. I have the audiobooks. If you don't mind waiting, can plan to BR a re-read then.
Barry wrote: "Anyone interested to read The Garden of Stones starting sometime next week? 20 Jan? It's a trilogy, I might continue with the series if I like the first book."That one is on KU Read & Listen. When do you want to start? I can start that one tomorrow.

How about Jan 20?
Soo wrote: "Barry, I'm planning to re-read the Expanse books before the latest comes out. I'll probably start mid-to-late summer. I have the audiobooks. If you don't mind waiting, can plan to BR a re-read then."Sure, let me know if and when you have the schedule set up. Thanks.
I'd like to re-read the Expanse as well. Actually, I had started reading them when they came out and had been reading through release day through book 6, but somewhere along the line I stopped watching the show and never read 7 or 8 so those would be the first times for me. Should we also re-read all the novellas as well? We'd have to start next month sometime at the latest to do it probably though.
I'd also be interested in reading the Expanse books leading up to the last one. I'd also prefer a summer start to read them closer together, but if others want to start earlier, perhaps we could still use the same thread?
The Garden of Stones #1 (Echoes of Empire) - We can start 1/20. If we like it, we should just use the same thread to do the trilogy. All of the books are on KU Read & Listen. So, 1/20th? =)
Expanse Series
Do we want individual threads for the books? Let people pop in & BR when they want?
I haven't read the novellas, so that would be fun. Something new. =)
Rob, what time table are you thinking? I think Melissa & I are the road runners. lol I don't mind having them spaced out. Expanse isn't one of the series that I enjoy reading in a row. I enjoy them more with a bit of time between. Time being relative and all. =D
I'll read on whatever schedule you all like. I am definitely not as fast as you all and I actually feel the same about interspersing other books between. Summer is perfectly fine, I may also just jump in for book 7-9 depending on what other reads I plan.
Saar The Book owl wrote: "I've got The Three-Body Problem today from the library. If anyone wants to BR it this week?"Good book! Be patient with the story. It takes a bit to get going and all of the books in the trilogy are a bit different in style/focus. Hope you like it!

Oh nice when are you planning on reading it?
Alan wrote: "November or December frankly hahabtw are you ready for the hobbit br soon harshi ;)"
Oh haha. I promised a friend who loves it that I'll read it as soon as these evil evil exams are over. So I'm prolly gonna start it soon.
Yeah I just finished the book I was reading so was thinking of starting the Hobbit. But if you're gonna read it on the 17th I can wait till then:-)
Soo wrote: "The ExpanseDo we want individual threads for the books? Let people pop in & BR when they want?"
Individual thread yes, and having a more flexible BR would be nice. I myself am thinking of starting in April, which would give me six months (1-2 books/month) before the October publication of the last book.
I got wayyyy too many books from the library all at once. My list making backfired. lol. So let me know if anyone would be interested in doing a buddy read of any of these~ Sadie, Circe, Children of Virtue and Vengeance

I'm a bit booked up this month but could do Feb?
