I can't remember, do we have a BR scheduled for the new Sarah J Maas book A Court of Silver Flames? If not, anyone want to read it when it's released?

Didn't find it listed in the BR request spreadsheet

Incidentally, I'd independently planned to get to Faithful and the Fallen starting in Feb and going every other month with it. Perfect! I'm looking forward to joining that one as well! There's a thread for it in the Gwynne file now.

Because I unknowingly started to read his second series "Of Blood and Bone" before the first. ^^; It will be nice to read things in the proper order, lol

Excellent! It comes out Feb 16th, shall I request a thread for the 25th to give you time to get a copy?

I'm going to try and finishing reading some books this week. So I would be able to read Watership Down earliest of 1/11. I know Chris and Barry were interested in the book. What time works for you two?

My schedule is wide open the next few weeks... I'm open to reading whenever you are... they're ready and waiting on my phone...

I'm about to read Harrow the Ninth, if anyone is interested in joining me... I forgot about it when it released last summer... and I hear the first 70% is challenging, with jumping timelines and 2nd/3rd person POVs, but the end is worth it if you liked the first book...
Any takers?... this is more of a last minute thing...

@Iain - Gideon the Ninth is on my Jan TBR. But I have Harrow on my Kindle too. If you wait for me a bit I can join.As for Transformation and The Lightning Struck Heart - is next week ok? I'd like to finish all my other open reads including Gideon the Ninth till then.

I can wait on Harrow a bit, and next week sounds fine for the other two... I'll request threads...

I'd be interested in joining you for the Hobbit, I'm reading it as part of my 2021 bingo challenge:)

Sorry, I'm not much help, after starting and joining a dozen BRs recently... just wrapped up a re-read of the Wheel of Time last year... already read Reckoners and the first Witcher book twice (on main book 3-4 I think)... and no interest in The Hobbit or A Song of Ice and Fire...
I'm sure some books will line up at some point... till then, at least you have some good books to read... even if I'm not interested, they're still popular books, or books I'd recommend...

I'd be interested in reading the Witcher but, I have so many Buddy Reads lined up for the first half of the year already x.x

I'll buddy read Game of thrones with you if you like; I have all the current books except The Winds of Winter.
Christ on a bike! So many posts! Thanks for the Blood Heir info Charlie. I'll probably snoop in on A Court of Silver Flames thread and see how you guys are finding it. If Nesta's being a top bitch there's no way I'm putting myself through that lol.
Hailee I was also planning on trying out The Faithful and the Fallen this year, so I'll definitely be joining you guys :)

I fully expect to want to stab Nesta in the eye!
In one of the Gardens of the Moon threads a few of us talked about continuing on with Deadhouse Gates in January but we didn't set anything for sure. I'm wondering if anyone wants to pick it up next week sometime. :)
Niki, I'm up to read deadhouse gates but I would prefer to start in February beacause I have quite a lot of books already in January
Alan wrote: "ok cool! i will send you a message when i start reading it - i have yet to finish don quijote, to the lighthouse and the girl who drank the moon... in 10 days maybe?"I've got another read starting on the 15th, and I think you have one or two, don't you? How about we set a date of 21st? Let me know if that's okay with you and I'll request a thread for it.
Beena wrote: "Hailee I was also planning on trying out The Faithful and the Fallen this year, so I'll definitely be joining you guys :)"👍👍👍 Happy to have you Beena 😊

But thanks for the reminder, I can start it at any time.

I could... it would be a re-read for me... I didn't make much progress on my Malazan restart last year, what with my Wheel of Time sidetrack...
Next week might work... or February, if you wait for Paula... looks like a fair amount of interest is popping up...

Paula wrote: "Niki, I'm up to read deadhouse gates but I would prefer to start in February beacause I have quite a lot of books already in January"I think February would work better fir me as well, as I still haven't finished RoW 😅
Deadhouse Gates is easier to read than Gardens of the Moon. But, DG is more likely to piss off females. I'm glad I can say that Malazan is no longer on my TBR. I finished that sucker last year. Woo!

Hahaha yeah I'm a hard pass on Nesta.
I'm kind of facing the opposite problem - I have Malice lined up for Feb (I'm trying not to pack in too many tomes). It was worth a shot trying to get it set up this month, but I understand some of you are overbooked. It's certainly a commitment haha. Maybe I'll be able to catch the BR for the next one. :)
I'm in no hurry to start... Hailee suggested to read Malice and its sequels one every other month, right? Maybe we can read Malazan in between? Starting DG in March?
I’m not sure I could do Malazan right now with all the other books in my BR. Malazan is like entering into a long term committed relationship that you have to pay attention to every nuance or word, as it will most likely return five books later. I made it to book 4 and I was so appreciative Scott took so much time putting summaries in threads.
Malazan - I recommend reading up to #6 and then you can kind of take it easy. As long as you're reading the series without big pauses, you can keep up with what happens in #7-10. The BR should help in keeping most of the important aspects fresh & easy to ask questions for a refresher. Or people may point out a link, etc.
I just finished Gwynne's second series last month. hope you all enjoy faith of the fallen. if there is one thing he knows how to do well is action, action, action. His characters are pretty solid too. just be prepared to track quite a few in this series (ASOIAF and Malazan fans won't have trouble wit that though!)

Oh great haha. I'm glad I'm not double booking with Malazan then. My brain might explode.

Considering I'm currently reading ,Malazan, ASOIAF, Wheel of Time and about to Restart Faithful and the Fallen, there seems to be no hope for me 😬😅
Man, I read Malazan (apart from the last book- just didn't make it!!) about ten years ago now, I've completely forgotten most of it, though some characters/moments do stand out in my memory. I remember really enjoying it. I did attempt to re-read last year but wasn't feeling it- still not in the mood, maybe in a few years....

I think I've read Gardens of the Moon 3x now... only read books 2-3/4 and some of the Bauchelain & Korbal Broach novellas once...
ACTUALLY... I think I re-read Deadhouse Gates over the summer before or during my Wheel of Time re-read... so I don't need to re-read it to continue with book 3... I think I'm on Memories of Ice now... my bad... only realized that while talking now...

Leviathan Falls will be the last book in the series. That's a shocker. I don't think they can wrap up all the stuff in one more book. I was going to setup a BR but I want to see what the deal is with the audiobook. I prefer audio for Expanse over print.

OK, request sent. I've kept it to the one book for now - if we decide to read the whole series later we can work out dates then.

I've known 9 was the end for years, and didn't know how they were going to wrap everything up, as books 7-8 barely dealt with the aliens that have been a driving force the entire series...
