Since it seems to be a standalone, would you mind me joining you on reading this? Looks very interesting!

I liked all 3 Wayfarers, although I heard a lot of mixed reviews over the third one. If the first book is about a whole crew of characters, the second tightens its focus to just a couple, while the third widens the aperture to a whole community.

Although there are ties to one another within the universe, each book follows new characters. I can't say for certain, but if you can't get to 2 & 3 in time, I think you could read #4 without missing much. (Although I loved A Closed and Common Orbit, and would definitely recommend circling back!)

I'll try and see if I can make it in time for book 4. This series has been sitting unread on my shelves for a couple of years now. High time to get it read.

And I'll ask for a thread for The House in the Cerulean Sea for Feb 15th. :)

I have a bunch of requests to make, now...

EDIT: Requests made for the things I'm firm on... clarification comments here on the things I'm unsure about... otherwise done slacking (in this thread)...

Soo (silverlyn) | 6898 comments Everything Box

02/15 works for me. =)

Shadows of the Apt

Let's go with April. That way we don't have a gap. Do we want one thread to cover the series? If we do that, maybe Book Club? Or separate threads for each book?

I think we said 1 book per month or 2 weeks per book?

Transformation

I can't remember if I said if I was going to re-read this or not. Hahaha! Wasn't there other people interested in that one? I think it's 3 pages back.

Everything Box: Good

Shadows of the Apt: needs to be 1 month per book... 2 weeks, and we'd be waiting until August to start... books 5-7 come out in July and 8-10 in November...

I'm unsure what route we want to take with Shadows of the Apt threads... if it's mostly just me, you, and maybe a few others, a single thread seems best...

Transformation: that comment was actually a reply to Laura... the only affirmative response I noticed...

Soo (silverlyn) | 6898 comments Shadows of the Apt (Fantasy Series)

1 book per month is great. That's easy to manage whether I go audio or reading print.

April 15th for Empire in Black and Gold?
15th for each book? #9 & 10 come out on 11/11

We should see if Choko & Brain want to read this one. I'll post in Vagabond.

That should work... I'll just be a week late for the July read, since it comes up on the 22nd...

Mel | 2360 comments Timelord Iain wrote: "I'm open to reading the Lightning Struck Heart, and the rest of the Tales of Verania... need me some more Klune."

I read The Lightning-Struck Heart and loved it - total ridiculous crack. I paused the series after the 2nd book though, so if you read the series I may join for 3 and 4.

I hope there are other takers for this, as I'd love to stalk the comments. I might skim through to comment on my favorite parts. It's tempting me to reread...

Want to make it the 22nd of each month then?

I think we have to read within 2 weeks of the BR date right?

message 6077: by Hailee (new)

Hailee | 2762 comments I decided today that I'm going to restart The Faithful and the Fallen series.
Malice (The Faithful and the Fallen, #1) by John Gwynne Valour (The Faithful and the Fallen, #2) by John Gwynne Ruin (The Faithful and the Fallen, #3) by John Gwynne Wrath (The Faithful and the Fallen, #4) by John Gwynne

I basically only needed to read the last one but I've left way too long between book 3 and book 4 and since I LOVE this series so much I don't want to risk forgotten details to spoil the ending. Therefore I want to restart it and read all 4 in 2021.

If anyone is interested in buddy reading them let me know. I'm probably going to set a schedule of 1 every two months.

message 6078: by Laura (new)

Siobhan - Yay!! Glad you'll be joining in. Since you're not taking part in the competition this year, I don't think anyway... if you wanted to start earlier you could, I'm sure you'll still be reading by the time the rest of us start. These books are a bit chunky after all... although maybe for a veteran of the Stormlight Archive these books might seem a bit weedy 😂😂
