Buddy Read Invite (Retired)

Other books are maybe. I don't think I'm far enough in some of the series. lol

Just an update, goodreads was glitching out on me today so I was only able to get one BR set up. I imagine it will work again tomorrow. :)

I'm in for The Witness for the Dead and Nowhere

I would be in for The Desert Prince :)

Hi Rob. I'm interested in The Wisdom of Crowds. But, I also want to set up the BR for the first two books, because I've been waiting for the trilogy to be completed first.
So :
A Little Hatred on July 16th
The Trouble with Peace on Aug 16th
and The Wisdom of Crowds on Sep 16th?
Anybody interested?

I would love to join these BRs. I am starting the First Law series of books next month and hopefully if I will finish all the First Law World books by July.

How about February 12 or 15th for the start date?"
12th sounds good:)
how does it work? do I have to do something? (I'm new to the group)

Directions to get Buddy Reads Added thread has the link for the BR thread request form.
I'll fill it out this time. =)

There's plenty of fun stuff around in the group. Take a look around. The book club section has been the lively spot this month. Those are more spontaneous Buddy Reads and tend to follow a theme like Last Minute BR, etc.

I'm interested!

I'm interested!"
Ok great! The release date is January 12 so how about we read it on January 15?
I’m in for Blood Heir... didn’t realize it was ready for editing and official release... need to check if audio is simultaneous... or I might have to wait...
EDIT: Looks like joining will be iffy... as much as I want to, I doubt the audio is releasing January 12th... oh well...

Guess it's time to stop neglecting this thread and offer some BRs of my own...
This is a list of stuff I'd like to get to in January/February, if anyone is interested in joining... I'd say January 5th-7th at the earliest, since I already have several BRs for the 1st-3rd...
The Sword of Kaigen -- standalone, I think -- I heard great things about this in 2019, and it finally got an audiobook in mid-2020...
Empire in Black and Gold -- beginning of a 10 book series -- this is another book/series I've wanted to read for awhile, that finally has audio... the first 2 books released this month on audio, and the next 2 are scheduled to release in February... books 5-7 are are scheduled to release in July and the last 3 are scheduled for release next November, so this could easily be a 2021-long BR...
Transformation -- beginning of a trilogy -- Laura's comments in the last few days in the Janny Wurts thread got me interested in finally giving this a go... kinda random, just an older fantasy book that has audio available, which is the sticking point for me...
Jade City -- beginning of a trilogy -- 3rd book is scheduled for release in September, so maybe I/we should wait until later in the year to read, but this is one I delayed reading so soon after The Poppy War, even tho I hear they're quite different stories... heard nothing but great things about the first book... opinions seem more mixed about the second...
The Everything Box -- first of 2 books -- the "whimsical" series Richard Kadrey writes when he's not writing Sandman Slim... I'm curious to see what it's like...
That's the end of that stuff for now, I guess... I'll do a followup post for new releases later, after I see what's already been mentioned recently...
In the meantime, anybody want to take advantage of being late to the party, to get bonus competition points on The Trouble with Peace, Dawnshard, and Rhythm of War?... I'm planning to finally get to those in January, with or without bonus points...

Anyway... I'm up for Galaxy I guess, Goblin Emperor for sure, Skyward for sure, and Abercrombie around release probably...

The Sword of Kaigen - The narrator sounds terrible but I'll join that BR. I feel like that's a story I should finish but I was not one of the people that loved the book. I thought it had it's pros/cons. I didn't like it enough to make time to read it. Nothing in it made me feel like it was original/fun enough to keep it a priority. I do want to see if it turns into something good. I read about 1/3 and thought it was ok but not too original.
Shadows of the Apt Series: Empire in Black and Gold - Want to start around the end of January & plot out 1 book per month? Audible dropped the ball on listing the series. #5-7 aren't on the series list.
The Everything Box - I'm down for Kadrey. =)
It's gonna be weird once he wraps up Sandman Slim.
Maybe List:
I read Transformation a long time ago. It wouldn't hurt to re-read and check out the rest of the trilogy.
What dates are we thinking?

Sounds good... I didn't have any exact dates in mind... figured I'd wait a bit and see if anyone else showed interest... you and I are the ones that will probably have the least issue reading whenever...
Re:Shadows of the Apt... your dates sound good... we'll get to read books 1-4 by May... then we'll need to wait till July to continue, and can read for the rest of the year... Audible does a good job of screwing things up sometimes... not the first time there's been inconsistencies... I only found/confirmed the books were releasing by going to the author page and sorting by newest arrivals...

Sure! I can do that. I just preordered it. I also submitted the buddy request.

I am interested in Sword of Kaigen and Jade City. I can do whenever.
I’m open to waiting until July/August for Jade City, so we can BR up to the release of Jade Legacy or whatever it’s called in late September...
I’ll probably do Sword of Kaigen sooner with these other peeps in Jan/Feb... trying to clear out my backlog...

Agreed! Looking forward to the shining :)

A book a month.
Starting with Curse of the Mistwraith.
If anyone wants to join us? First-time readers are of course welcome!!

Iain, I'd be happy to read the first three or four books Empire of Black & Gold (can't remember how many I have off hand) with you; after reading Guns of the Dawn and the echoes of the Fall trilogy earlier this year I'd like to read more of the author's work.
I set up two then it says there's an error. ugh. Will get all of the requests up as soon as I can.

I stumbled across my copy of The Killing Moon yesterday, Hailee; I'd be happy to buddy read it with you!

I'm in for The Sword of Kaigen and Transformation. Just let me know when. :)

The House in the Cerulean Sea
and
Swordheart
and sometime in Feb:
The Master of Whitestorm

I'm on the fence because I can't plan too many reading (print) BRs. If I join the re-read for Wars of Light & Shadow, that will take up a good chunk of my reading time.

I have Master of Whitestorm, but I would need to buy Swordheart. Already have four BR's (including Curse of the Mistwraith) in January.
I'm reading The Emperor's Wolves first. I have the paperback. Re-reading Wandering Inn Vol3 but that's at my own pace & whenever.
Plan was to read (print) the Curse of the Mistwraith after Emperor's Wolves.
I'm busy doing other projects and not prioritizing books this year. 2019-2020 was a lot of reading and books were a priority because I was experimenting with dual (reading & listening). I'd listen to one book and read a different one. 2020 ended up being an extension to the experiment because pandemic. It was a great run but it's time to work on other stuff.

I'm tempted by the House in the Cerulean Sea, but I've already planned a lot for January. It is a sweet little standalone that I've been meaning to fit in though... are there any other takers?

I'd be interested in Nowhere, whenever it comes out, but since there isn't a firm release date yet that I know of, a little early to plan for it.
