Melanie (mvalente89) | 2198 comments A lot of imported books come in with a subtitle that GR doesn't consider a subtitle, i.e. Intrusion: A Novel. In this case, the title should really be Intrusion.

You can find books for editing by going to the search page and selecting the title radio button before searching. There are a ton of variations that can be found by searching "A [insert genre here] Novel", but the three biggest examples I've come across are:

A Novel
A Thriller
*

* On this one, the first page of results is for a series called "FBI Thriller", but if you go past the first page, you should start seeing titles that need editing.

A Romance Novel **

** This one has a lot of variations, such as "A Fantasy Romance Novel ", "A BDSM Romance Novel", "A New Adult Romance Novel", etc.

With all of these (but especially with the romance one), the subtitle is sometimes a series name, so the title just needs to be edited to follow GR series standards.

One could spend years fixing all of these, so it's something great to do when you have a bit of free time.

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 198 comments I've worked on quite a few of these since you posted this...they are everywhere! Lately I've been typing in the title of the book I just finished reading, rather than going straight to the book page, and have caught a lot this way, since they don't automatically combine with other editions entered correctly.

So far, the onix Ingram import seems to be my main culprit in this, as in most other catalog errors.

Linda (lindalanz) | 159 comments Another one to look for is Roman ('novel'), which you'll find in a lot of German and Swedish novel titles (among other languages, I'm sure). For example, the Swedish book En bok: roman should be just En bok.

Chris Millington | 202 comments I try and remove some of these inappropriate subtitles when I can. When I've edited a particular title, I check all the other editions and that way find quite a few titles that need updating.
