Kikyosan | 64 comments Jim, for religious faith is "fede", for people we use "fiducia" that encloses the meanings of trust, confidence, reliance and other words, included the situation you've talked about. each of these english words seem just a part of the whole meaning of "fiducia".

Thanks. Google translates them as 'faith' & 'confidence' respectively which makes sense.

Robert, I think perhaps the above makes more sense in what you're saying, too. It might be more accurate to say I have faith in science as a whole, but more or less confidence in the accuracy of specific theories. What do you think?
