Kate Miller | 3 comments I'm looking for a very old cookbook, perhaps from the '30's or 40's. It was a narrative type book, written by a man (perhaps fictional) who lived in the woods, or by a lake, with his wife. He was somehow disabled, and had a man servant living with them who helped with the cooking - I think they were in a war together or something. I read this book about a decade ago - it was on the shelves at the Ohio State University library, before the big renovation. I have searched the stacks, but can't find it, so it's possible that it's gone to their archives, but with no idea of a title, I have no way of locating it.

Any ideas would be most helpful.

A long shot - did it have an "obvious" title like "The Man's Cookbook" (1944) by Arthur Herman Deute? "Arthur H. Deute's hobby is cooking and in this cookbook, he has organized and added personal stories to each of the many recipes it contains."

Kate Miller | 3 comments Nope, but a good guess!

Adele | 1435 comments A Man and His Meals has that narrative style you mentioned and it was written by two men and published in 1947. It does not appear to be on Goodreads, but you can see the cover here: https://www.amazon.com/man-his-meals-...
