Reading the classics with other groups I wonder how much folks get out of these books if they don't have a Christian background. There is a lot of focusing on all sorts of things, but when it comes to Biblical references they are completely passed over or the discussion as a rule quickly moves on.

They mostly get the story and artistic craft. The virtues go over their heads. And I speak as one who was one of them at one time. If I had more time I would love to join one of those clubs, but I just can't.
