Me too. I find reading what people think fascinating and often varied.

Izzy Holmes Hi David really enjoyed the book DNS though I live in a really rural bit of Yorkshire now still have fond memories of uni days in Sheffield reading this book. Got me thinking would I have read the book probably not "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing" do people know they are good or bad instinctively? Did I expect a different ending yes but this was s happier ending than I predicted. Fabulous read

I didn't grow up anywhere near England but the good ole USA and I enjoyed the ending immensely to be honest I was actually thinking darker than what actually happened. I like David's endings because this may sound weird but they are not all warm and fuzzy but they are tied up.

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 53 comments Thanks, Izzy, glad it brought some happy memories. As for reading the book or not, I wonder how hard it would be to resist in such a situation.

A darker ending was tempting, but the ending I ended up with felt more natural for the characters.

Have to ask, what is DNS?

message 106: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 53 comments Good to know you like my endings, Chris. Be interesting to see if you think the same with the Fuel to the Fire trilogy, for me my most satisfying conclusion :-)

message 107: by Mary (new)

Mary | 10 comments I've just started the book and am about 50% through. So far I love it but life keeps getting in the way of finishing it.I really like the you switch back and forth between the characters views. I just hope the end is as good as the the 1st half. :-)

That is one of the reasons I like David's books because you get to know the characters good and bad. I am wondering while you are reading this book if have come up with an ending.

Good to know, Mary. I do enjoy that switch between characters myself when rwading as well as writing. As Chris points out, you get the character's own thoughts/opinion countered with that of other characters and then have to draw your own conclusions based on both sets of evidence. I feel this aligns with how we evaluate people in real life, which hopefully leads to well rounded characters. In Imperfect Strangers I take this switching of characters further, playing the same event through different character's minds. If that appeals, and if you continue to enjoy Void, it may be worth a look. :-)

Jimmie | 302 comments I will post this weeks question later today with a chance to win an e-book.

message 111: by Jimmie (new)

Jimmie | 302 comments VOID GoodReads book discussion team, please see this months question. The first person to post the correct answer in this thread will win a free e-book. Anyone that has not won a free e-book during the VOID book discussion is eligible for the free e-book.

What is the name of the cave that Tom visits with Nicky?

message 112: by Chris (new)

Chris | 732 comments Good question Jimmy. You are finally using your noggin.

message 113: by Jimmie (new)

Jimmie | 302 comments Are there any takers for this weeks question? This weeks question is in message 111.

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 53 comments Oh dear, does this mean I can't even give books away? ;-)

message 115: by Rosa (new)

Rosa | 17 comments Hi,
The cave has a couple of names: Castleton, or Peak Cavern/Devil's Arse ( but they changed the last one as the Queen was visiting and they didn't want to upset her) ;)

message 116: by Rosa (new)

Rosa | 17 comments I hope not David as I would like to read another book that you've written.

message 117: by Jimmie (new)

Jimmie | 302 comments Rosa, you are correct. The correct answer is The Devil's Arce.

Chris | 732 comments W.M. wrote: "I just finished this book. OMG - so good. I'll wait to post anything after July so there are no spoilers."

It doesn't matter since it's near the end of the book. We have been talking about the book in general. In an earlier post they were wondering if Tom was a murderer.

message 120: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 53 comments Sorry for the lack of response from me, I was away for the weekend visiting family. We both have young puppies, so it was not exactly relaxing but it was great fun.

Thanks W.M. such enthusiastic responses always bring a smile to my face and make the effort I f writing so worth while.

I think we are far enough into the month for spoilers to be expected, so feel free to post away any comments or questions :-)

I am sure we all at 1 time or another wanted something so bad and when we got it were disappointed because it wasn't what we thought it was and our parents made us keep it.

There wasn't meant to be, Rhonda, but as you've asked: Tom finds a picture of Penny early on in the book; on what island was that picture taken?
