Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) Yes, they are ( words to live by).

I like the quote from the movie which says:

"It doesn’t matter who you are on the outside, the main thing is who you are on the inside."

There's a related saying which I love. It's:
"What matters most is how you see yourself."
See the perfect plaque with that quote here:

Nina I absolutely love that picture and of course the quote and the one, "It doesn't matter who..." Thanks for posting such positive views of life.

Nina Your roses are such a lovely, brilliant color but it is amazing they produce on the spindly branches. Nature will never cease to amaze me.

Nina, I'm glad you liked the picture which I sent by email to you. It's too much trouble to post it here. I have my fingers in too many pies. I'm very busy... especially for someone who does absolutely nothing. LOL

PS-Yes, now that you mention it, the color of my roses is a very brilliant red. I guess I just got lucky that time. :)

Nina I love your red hat in the Red Hatter's photos and when I glanced at your pictures of your cousin I noticed two people were named Lucy. Were they cousins also? I am asking as we seem to have some similar names in our families. I have a Lucy daughter and a Lucy great granddaughter. And I mentioned that my great grandson, Jamie who lives in CT can play the piano and when I asked about this, his mother says there are lots of European immigrants in his class and they all play so it is almost expected.

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) Nina, I love the name Lucy! My mother's sister was named Lucy. She was so much fun. My sister has a grandchild named Lucy. It's a great name! Yes we do seem to have similar names in our families.

I love to hear people playing the piano. It's my favorite instrument.

Nina JOY, This is a funny "Lucy" story. Lucy was my fifth child and before that I had a boy, then a girl, then a boy, than a girl so I just assumed this one would be a boy. I hadn't picked a girls name even. So I am in the labor room laying next to a young girl in the other bed in the room and she asked me what I was going to name my baby. I said, "I think Harry after my father in law." And she said, "What if it's a girl?" And I answered, "I don't know." So she said, "My name is Lucy and I have always loved that name." So Lucy it was and my daughter tells people I named her after some girl I met in the labor room. End of tale. Not quite the end as I should mention Lucy does also love her name.

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) Nina, that's a great story. Did you name your daughter Lucy or Lucille?

When my younger sister had one of her 8 children, she met another woman who was at the hospital giving birth as well. She and the other woman have become great friends and the 2 children they had celebrate their birthdays on the same day.

BTW, I have two sisters, my older sister had 9 kids and the other had 8 kids. They were married to 2 brothers. My older sister adopted her grandson when he was a baby. So she raised 10 kids! That's the sister whose husband died in his 40s leaving her to raise the kids alone. Those were hard days for her. She went back to teaching school. So she was a working mom raising 10 kids!

Nina I named my daughter Lucy not Lucille and although she loved her Godmother named Lucille she hated it when people called her Lucille. I greatly admire your sister teaching and raising ten children. I guess you can do it if you have to but not all women would have done that. Compare her to these young ones who think they work so hard. Never. My sister in law had eight children and one of my son's had nine/unusual in his age group.

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) I don't like the name Lucille either. But I love the name Lucy.

Nina We seem to agree on lots of topics, Joy.

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) Yes, that's true, Nina!
