Who else watched the film on Netflix tonight? Congratulations to Jonathan! Yes, the title change is a sore spot and the movie is definitely lighter than the novel when it comes to the emotional weight, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. We laughed a lot. The cast was great and for me I think Burnett got the characters right. They felt like Johnny's characters. What did you all think?

I wanted the movie to unpack the characters in the same manner as the book, which is most likely impossible unless the movie was 12 hours long. I though Selena was a great choice for Dot, and the scene with the Leonard Cohen song stole the show for me. Johnny's cameo was another high point! All around, a nice Friday night at the movies.

you two are sweet . . . i enjoyed the film, but i'd be lying if i said i didn't miss the sad rage and insanity of grief . . . also, i hated to see bob and elton written out of the script, but i can understand why rob made the decisions he did . . .

It made sense to narrow the characters down for film. And yes, the film was light on serious emotion, but it was still enjoyable to watch. And we laughed a lot. The actors were very winning. Can't wait for Harriet on the big screen!
