S (sage-m-goodreads) Hey guys! I know it's been... well... forever, since I was an active member of this group. Ever since I started senior year, everything was about graduating, GPA, and college admissions (oh my!) I hope to start participating much more frequently.

So I was wondering, do you guys purchase each My Sibling the Mythical Being book, or do you rent from the library? What about books in general: purchase or rent? Do you prefer physical copies or e-books? Let's discuss!

Sophie | 1254 comments I buy every MSTV & MBTW book. I have to get my hands on them as soon as possible and I know I'm (almost certainly) going to love them and re-read them multiple times so it just makes sense to own them! I'm different with books in general though. I don't buy books that often and I get a lot of books from the library. I very very rarely read e-books (only if I can't get a copy of the physical) but I'll occasionally listen to audio books. My library has some audio and e-books but not a good selection so most of the time I'll buy those. I mostly read physical books and I make good use of my local library. This is an interesting discussion, thanks for making it Sage! :)

Daisy | 1399 comments Hey again Sage! Don't worry about not being active - I've been absent for ages since the run-up to my exams in May... D: Definitely need to get to back to dedicating more time to this group!

Ooh, I like this discussion. I agree with Sophie about MSTV and MBTW books - I would cry giving them back to the library if I didn't buy them! Plus they look really nice and aren't that big so I love owning them. In general though I don't buy books much - only really ones I've already read or that I'm pretty sure I'm going to love (a pretty cover doesn't hurt either). Still trying to catch up with the huge pile of books I haven't yet read that I already own to buy more! If I don't already own it I'll get it from the library or occasionally get the ebook if I don't want to wait for the library to get it in. I also love audiobooks so I get a lot of those too. Physical books rule though, of course. A bit of everything for me really!

S (sage-m-goodreads) I can see your guys' point of view. When it comes to physical books, I either have to a) buy it because it's a book I love and I want to have the physical copy, or b) pick it up from the library because I was just looking for no particular book. Particular books I want to read, however, will either be physical bought or e-book. My kindle is full of books. (Especially free books like the classics, I have a lot of those I'm reading on there!)

For MSTMB books, I may have to rent from the library. There are so many ;_;

Daisy | 1399 comments I don't blame you for renting the MSTMB books, Sage - buying all of them is definitely a commitment! Since I already have all the ones that are out whenever there's a new one I'm like "Well, I might as well own this one too since I have all the rest..." It's becoming quite an obsession, haha. They're really nice looking books though and I reread random ones quite a lot so I love having them, even if they take up quite a lot of room on my bookshelf!

S (sage-m-goodreads) I'm mostly upset that the cover art style changes. Why would you do this Scholastic?!

Also, funny story: I went to Barnes and Noble's to get the new Harry Potter book/script, and they'd been sold out. Meanwhile, my mom picked up the book at Target today, no prob. And it was cheaper. And on sale. Interesting...

Daisy | 1399 comments I'm not too bothered about that because the general composition of the cover is the same, and none of the art styles are straight out horrible to me (though I admit I used to get really annoyed about Ivy's head shape on the Flipping Out! cover... kinda got over that now). If they'd replaced the drawings with real people or drastically changed the design, then I'd be really mad about it, but I'm used to them as they are.

Hmm, we don't have Target or Barnes and Nobles here in the UK, but if/when I go to the USA I know which one I'll be shopping at!

Sophie | 1254 comments I don't remember seeing the US covers if that's what you're talking about Sage (?) so I can't comment on those cover changes. I didn't notice the UK cover change until Daisy pointed it out to me so I don't mind that one.

Daisy | 1399 comments Oh, yeah, the US covers may be different to the ones I was talking about.

S (sage-m-goodreads) For the U.S. covers, I think they change after Vampalicious! I may just have to suck it up, lol. You have a good point, the style doesn't change *that* much.
