annapi | 5505 comments I'm definitely in! As I posted on your blog, the March Madness game seriously pushed the boundaries of my reading, and I got a lot of great books under my belt!

I'm so glad to hear that! I'd take credit for the good books but most of them were actually nominated by others with a majority coming from PBT members.

annapi | 5505 comments Do we need to sign up on your blog, or is it enough that we signed up here?

message 6: by Jen (new)

Jen | 1545 comments As long as I've acknowledged that I saw your sign up, you can do so anywhere. I have got your name on the list.

Susie How strange! When I try the link it takes to my Goodreads challenge?! I'll try later on my laptop.

Jen | 1545 comments That is weird

Jen | 1545 comments As an FYI: I wanted to congratulate Annapi and Rachel for winning prizes in our March madness game. Annapi won the grand prize and Rachel nominated the winning book. Here's what they win (and I'm kind of jealous of Anna's prize).

Grand prize (to the person who scores the most points – through a combination of reading and correct predictions): $50 Amazon gift card, a prize pack of 8 prize-winning books, major bragging rights, and should they choose to accept, the opportunity to publish a guest post on our blog (this post can be a way to plug your own blog, discuss an issue of relevance to you, review a book, plug your own book, or share your challenge experience). Winners will be able to select 2 books from the 2016 Pen/Faulkner shortlist, 2 books from the 2016 International Man Booker Prize, 2 books from the 2016 Bailey’s Prize long list, and 2 books from the 2015 National Book Awards finalists.

Best Coach: $15 Amazon gift card. This prize will go to the person who nominated the winning book. Several people nominated the same books. The winner will be the person who submitted their nomination first.

annapi | 5505 comments Ok, I will definitely need recommendations! The only books I have read are Between the World and Me and In the Country: Stories (though I may decide to choose that to get a hardcopy of it).

message 14: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Pope (jenjunum) | 902 comments I think many here liked Fates and Furies (a 5* for me) and many liked My name is Lucy Barton (I decided not to read it, seemed like the plot might be kind of thin for the types of books I'm drawn to). The Sympathizer also won the Pulitzer for fiction... Not sure if that speaks better or worse for it...

message 15: by Jen (new)

Jen | 1545 comments I've read a few but you and I generally like different books: I've read:

A little life
The green road
The portble Veblen
Nimona.
The soul of an octopus

A little life was my favorite. Nimona was really good and I think you might like it. Plus since it's a graphic novel, getting a hard copy is much better then kindle copies.

I also really like the Soul of an Octopus.

Book worm (my co-blogger) read almost all of the Bailey's list books. I think she reviewed them on the blog and you could probably search with term "Bailey" however her tastes are like mine so be forewarned.

message 16: by Jen (new)

Jen | 1545 comments Oh, and girl of war. That was good too. My least favorite was The Green Road.

message 17: by annapi (new)

annapi | 5505 comments Question - Are At Hawthorne Time and A Little Life 2 separate books? Or is only one on the list?

message 18: by Jen (new)

Jen | 1545 comments Two separate books. Sorry for some reason they wer lumped together

Please remove me from the sign up list, Jen. Sounds like fun, but I'm having a hard time concentrating these days and have planned myself a month of short, uncomplicated reading. I don't want those limitations to bring a team down.

message 21: by Jen (new)

Jen | 1545 comments Okay. Will do. We have open spots if anyone else wants to join.

Prizes will be similar to some i've posted here for March madness game

message 22: by annapi (new)

annapi | 5505 comments Jen, I've received 7 of the books (all but A Whole Life). Thank you so much!

message 23: by Jen (new)

Jen | 1545 comments So glad! I believe that was the one that hasn't come out yet. I think it comes out in September

message 24: by Jen (new)

Jen | 1545 comments Oh, and I will send the gift cards out to you and Rachel over the weekend

message 25: by annapi (last edited Jul 07, 2016 04:24PM) (new)

annapi | 5505 comments LOL I never even realized that one hadn't come out yet. Looking forward to it! I just started Nimona and am loving it so far except....I hate how small the text is! I feel so old, squinting at my book, and that's with reading glasses!
