I mostly flew through this...it was a bit slow in the beginning but then I got so caught up in it that I forgotXD

Anyway, a few thoughts I had(view spoiler)[I hated that ending! I was really enjoying their romance and I wanted to see more of them together, but the way it ended, it doesn't seem as if Khalid knows that she's still alive? (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Im about 70% in and im a little confused about Khalid and Shazi at the start. we're they you know, having sex? like. they barely talked so why'd they go all the way so quicky? Also it said. he wasn't enjoying it and neither was she... it was just weird to me. Also she fell for him way to easily. He did NOTHING to deserve her feelings that quick! And if your friend was supposedly killed by him, why was one day out and a sword lesson all it took. ugh I'm just confused with her. (view spoiler)[So its only been a 4th of the book but I'm lowkey a tad confused about what's going on and not much has happened either? I think I've finally sorted out who is who, the side characters (mostly Sharhzad's family) weren't really given an introduction and I was confused about them for a good amount of time. That could just me a me thing though, lol

And also the POVs are kinda weird, they aren't evenly distributed. Sharhzad get most of the chapters but then other POVs are inserted at what seems like random? Like we occasionally get her dad, occasionally get Tariq, occasionally get Khalid, occasionally get Rahim its super weird?

I'm not super blown away by this book yet, but it's still just starting and I still have hope! I have a feeling I'm going to want to read it fairly fast to get to the part when it starts to (hopefully) pick up and not be as boring. (hide spoiler)]

I know we kinda were told a little bit of what was going on with Khalid in the very beginning, but i'm still lowkey confused about what's going on and I can't wait to kinda out more about that!

I feel so bad for Tariq though, he doesn't know what the heck is going on with Sharhzad and Khalid and the poor boy is just so confused.... but sorry dude you're gonna have to let her go

Also that attack was WILD. And Khalid dropping his sword.... so she didn't die.... mhhhh *chef's kiss* I'm so intrigued by the attackers though. Who *knows*? Who is behind this? I NEED TO KNOW!!

I think this is going to be a high 4 star for me, like maybe 4.5? I absolutely loved the characters at the end and I'm SO invested in their relationship but there are some things I wasn't a fan of, and it did take me a little over half the book to really feel invested in and a part of the story so it's not quite a 5 star read for me, but it's close cause I haven't screamed about book characters like this in a hot minute, lol
