SOLVED. Island, sleeping with the enemy, part of reader's digest collection [s]

I have another one for you all. This one is part of a Reader's Digest collection, and has been bothering me for a while. It's about a woman who sleeps with her fiance before the wedding. They are involved in an accident right after the wedding and the husband, who is named David, I think, is paralyzed from the waist down. The woman gives birth to a child and knows that she will never have another one because her husband refuses to sleep with her. Then there's a section about a German spy or something that comes to their island and has an affair with the wife. He ends up trying to kill the little family, but dies (I think?). Ring a bell in anyone's mind?

About what year was it published, either in Reader's Digest collection, or on its own?

I actually had looked through that list, but I don't remember what it was called! I know it was published in the collection somewhere in the 60's or 70's. This collection was one belonging to my grandparents, and was one of many. I know that they don't have any 50's or 80's collections. Just 60's and 70's. I hope this helps!
