Brenna (beans_etc) | 2 comments I just tried to add a new book to the Goodreads catalog and it tells me that the ISBN is already listed; however, the item it directs to is a mangled duplicate of another book already in the catalog about the same subject. (They are in fact two different books though -- I've read them both.)

The book I was trying to add is: "Tippi of Africa". (The summary, cover art, and certain record details currently displayed are wrong -- someone's confused them with the other book.)
ISBN: 1868720837 / 978-1868720835
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

The record info I was going to reference from is from:
http://epl.bibliocommons.com/item/sho...
and
https://www.worldcat.org/title/tippi-...

The book that it's been confused with is: "Tippi: My Book of Africa". (The record info is accurate as far as I can tell, though it could use some ISBN numbers added.)
ISBN: 9781770070295 / 177007029X

Thank you!

Z-squared | 8580 comments I have separated "Tippi of Africa" from "Tippi: My Book of Africa". As far as I can tell, the ISBNs are associated with the right books now. But you might want to doublecheck.

I've also placed a librarian note on each book to hopefully prevent confusion in the future.

Brenna (beans_etc) | 2 comments Thanks. I just got my librarian powers so I've done some additional tweaking: the publishing info for the listed ISBN for "Tippi of Africa" didn't match up, so I've edited it to reflect the edition that I have at my house right now with the same ISBN.

I also tweaked the information for the "Tippi: My Book of Africa" to match WorldCat (I'm not sure where the former publishing info was supplied from, but as far as I could tell from reputable sources, it was also wrong.)

Z-squared | 8580 comments ISBNs frequently get re-used for reissues. I am on my mobile and can't really check your edits (and they're probably fine), but you should probably check out the alternate cover edition section of the librarian manual just to familiarize yourself with the rules. Happy New Librarian status!
