Cynthia B | 1 comments The main character Charlie seems to be that type of person that is very lonely. He starts off high school with basically no friends. It is difficult for him to make friends. As the story progresses, Charlie's teacher gives him certain books to read, which later on makes sense to me why his teacher chooses certain books for him. Charlie cares a lot about his sister. He even promised to her he would never tell his parents about the abortion she had. Charlies writes, "When my sister thought about it for a second, I think she figured out why she wouldn't tell Mom or Dad. It's like she suddenly remembered where we were and what had just happened..." (Chbosky 119). This is ironic because at the beginning of this novel, Charlie and his sister never really had a close relationship. After Charlie told his parents about how abusive her boyfriend was being, she basically hated him. I believe that when things go bad, it is when family gets closer. In this example, Charlie seemed to have a closer relationship with his sister.
