Kay (Brigidsmomma) Compton (brigidsmomma) | 565 comments Finished the 1st of my dusty books for this month, Secret of the Painted Lady (Danger Cove, #1) by Elizabeth Ashby and I gotta say, this was really good. So good that I went out and bought the rest of the series so I can get started on them any day now...

Hi Trea,

I just realized I never replied about BR for Reckless (Rescue Squad, #1) by Kimberly Kincaid . So sorry! The last 2 months have been crazy, my mom and dad moved (last weekend-yay) and I have been at their house every weekend for the last 6 weeks, to help pack. Today is the first weekend I don't have to go anywhere. I already finished Reckless (Rescue Squad, #1) by Kimberly Kincaid though or I would BR.

Ah, that's ok. When I didn't hear back from you, I planned on reading it on my own and wound up finishing it myself on the 17th. I also wound up reading the next book in the series too, and it wasn't that good.

⚜️XAR the Bookwyrm (xar-the-bookwyrm) Heya, EnglishElle! Finished my second pick this morning Rapturous (Quantum, #4) by M.S. Force . I wasn't that impressed with it, really, but it did let me know if I wanted to finish the series or not! Thanks again for the picks!

Danielle Gypsy Soul (afdaniellet) | 1919 comments Susan,

Again thanks for the picks. One was a hit: The Hook Up (Game On, #1) by Kristen Callihan ★★★★

The other a dud. The Protector (Taskforce, #1) by Marliss Melton

Kay (Brigidsmomma) Compton (brigidsmomma) | 565 comments Finally finished my second book for July's DB challenge.

The Mystery of the Yellow Room by Gaston Leroux was an interesting read, not sure if it was written in French and translated into English or just written using ESL. I give it 4 Stars. Still very readable and literate, even if the author was not a native English speaker.

Sounds like an interesting read indeed! I added it to my TBR :-)
Given the original title is French it was probably written in French and then translated.

That was my thought as well.... Back then, folks were just so much more fluent in multiple languages....

Nina | 19 comments That's true as well. At least, if you were well educated and a writer...

VampAmber | 622 comments Finished my second pick, The Serpent's Shadow (Elemental Masters, #1) by Mercedes Lackey , right near the end of the month (which is about usual for me as of late). As with pretty much any Mercedes Lackey book, I freaking adored it. Now I definitely need to read the rest of the series (I'd read #2 and #3 about a decade ago, so I'mma re-read them, as well). Also need to start reading her 500 Kingdoms series again. Totally one of my fave authors. ^_^ Can you tell?

Whoa so many good titles! Okay, you may groan when when you see this, but I'm going to choose Every Man Dies Alone by Hans Fallada as one book..."

Hey Marty, last last minute yesterday night I finished both my books. Thanks again for the great picks, I really enjoyed both of them. They were extremly different on my aspects, though that also made them kind of complementary. Now I want to watch the movie of Breakfast at Tiffany's. And there's also a movie based on Every Man Dies Alone, release date for Europe is September. Though I am not sure whether I want to watch that one. I feel that though the story might be great for a movie, the way the book is written can never be turned into a movie and so I might just be disappointed.
