I read this entire book on a long car trip today and just got home and got Internet. It was very good with a lot of surprising twists.

Tessa's mom (view spoiler)[She was definitely messed up. Neither of her kids were actually her kids and she was a kidnapper and a murderer, so she was awful. (hide spoiler)]

Stokes (view spoiler)[I'm glad they figured out that he wasn't guilty before it was too late. That's something that people have to be very careful with when it comes to the death penalty. (hide spoiler)]

Maggie (view spoiler)[I think she tried her best to be a good mother, but she shouldn't have forced Callie to testify as a kid. (hide spoiler)]

wow, this one is good so far

I like(view spoiler)[ the complex relationship between Callie and Tessa. How tough. They both went through hell testifying and they were so young and so traumatized by what they had been through

I hate that it shows, but it makes sense they would both have mental scars from what they went through
Callie - drinks, doesn't let people close

Tessa's mom (view spoiler)[ woah. she was really messed up. and Tessa realizing how much she tried to keep her need her mom. frightening. she was so strong. I was so glad when she made it out of that cabin (hide spoiler)]

Callie (view spoiler)[ I was worried when she put herself out on the sites. and then when he knew the phone. OMG and then when Tessa went to find her and she was gone. Woah. not at all where I thought the story would go and WOW, the guard! I didn't even remember him!
I hope now Callie can help come to terms with telling the truth and is able to let some of her pain go and find help for her self destruction and drinking (hide spoiler)]

I think Jos (view spoiler)[knows something and it is a bit strange to me that she visited her dad right before he died. I wonder why she didn't try harder to connect with her sister and go together. (hide spoiler)]

Why would their mom and/or dad (view spoiler)[withhold anything from their children about the murders unless they know who did it and it was someone close to them that they're protecting? (hide spoiler)]

Everyone (view spoiler)[is suspect to me too. I have no strong feelings about anyone being the Monster or knowing more. I'm baffled at this point. (hide spoiler)]

Can't even begin to imagine finding out your mother kidnapped you AND killed your birth mother AND kidnapped your sister...ugh!!! But GREAT twists!! (hide spoiler)]

Callie (view spoiler)[I felt so bad for her when she was drugged by her own mother, locked in the room with nowhere to relieve herself other than the floor, and feeling so helpless, but she wasn't because she got out! Thank God!! (hide spoiler)]

The guard (view spoiler)[I remembered him at the beginning of the book because he was so rude to Callie but I didn't consider him or think about him throughout the book either. LOL Freaky when he realized who Callie was because of her phone cover. Ugh! I was worried she might end up dead, too. Thankfully not! (hide spoiler)]

Jos (view spoiler)[I'm glad that she DID love Callie and in her own way was only trying to protect her. I was glad that it ended on a positive note for the sisters. As Jo said, "The ARE sisters." Biology doesn't always mean a whole lot. (hide spoiler)]
