Excellent book all!

Now I am on to The Miniaturist for 4E - mystery and I will now claim 1B - book set on water for my next read.

Cheers! I love starting my day by finishing a great book. 8-)

Karin (karindem55) | 231 comments I read The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen which I don't think fits anywhere based on what is left. I'll hold off claiming another task until the post is updated so as not to step on any toes.

Ray (user2637) (hugpete) | 1521 comments I just updated my spreadsheet, which might not be 100% but is pretty close. These are the tasks I have listed as unclaimed -- 6D is a 'soft' claim by Lory, but it hasn't been mentioned in awhile, so if you have a topiary in your book that'd be great! Or, are any of those butterflies gold? Can't tell on the small picture....

2e Read a book with a gold object on the cover
6d Read a book with a topiary in it.
9a Read a book where someone works at a non-profit.
9b Read a book with a party decoration on the cover.
9e Read a book with a medal or trophy on the cover.
10a Read a book where the main character is a werewolf.
10e Read a book with 3 parts in it.
12e Read an inspirational book.

Also, if it's none of these, Kazen might give up task 12A to you so you can be counted as finishing your 2 books for the event. Kazen's got 1 book done and 2 tasks claimed, so her 2 books would still be covered. :)

Karin (karindem55) | 231 comments Thanks Ray - that is helpful. The butterflies are even hard to see on the real-life cover; some of the more intricate ones could be considered slightly gold (with other colors). Other than that, the closest this comes to the remaining tasks listed is the werewolf one - no MC's are werewolfes, but at one point in the story one character thinks the other may be one.

Caly ☯ Crazy Book Lady | 596 comments Had some time to do some searching and found 3 books that should work for the Non-profit - Labor 9A
The Great Penguin Rescue 40,000 Penguins, a Devastating Oil Spill, and the Inspiring Story of the World's Largest Animal Rescue by Dyan deNapoli Runaway (Starlight Animal Rescue, #1) by Dandi Daley Mackall Hope for Wildlife True Stories of Animal Rescue by Ray MacLeod

Thanks! Though I can't claim it yet, I still have 2 in the pipeline I am working on. Also I just ordered the book which will take a little time to get here. Here's an excerpt...I think it's good...

...There was no official humane society in the area, so if an animal needed temporary shelter, she was it. This came mostly from her inability to bear seeing anything suffer and the fact that she got far too attached to every animal she met. The rescue part of the business was extremely nonprofit and depended on grants and donations, so Lilah—along with Cruz—worked hard to keep the kennels afloat.

Good question! I'll bring this back for discussion and get back to you :)

I am so sorry but neither of these work - it needs to be something that you can look at and say, "that's a party decoration". While these covers are lovely they are full of items that fall under "could be used as a party decoration". :( Maybe Harvest Moon could work for one of the bonus labors?

Since I have only completed one book for the Labors I didn't think I could go to bonuses. Also - what happens if the Labor tasks are done before I read a second book that fits one of the tasks?

message 4282: by Kazen (new)

Kazen Karin wrote: "Since I have only completed one book for the Labors I didn't think I could go to bonuses."

You're right - we can't pop that book in for a bonus until you finish two labors.

"Also - what happens if the Labor tasks are done before I read a second book that fits one of the tasks?"

Then you can't claim any of the bonuses. :( But I have good news!

I recently moved one of my books around and can free up the 300-400 page book slot. Your read is 304 pages and fits perfectly, and would be your second labor book. Then you could read for bonuses going forward. Shall we do that? :)
