That works! Glad to hear you're working your way through it. ^^b

(That's a thumbs up in most fonts, trust me...)

I already put the book through, so no. Brianna's working on it, though :)

eta: We could also use an Omni-bonus if it comes to that.

So what is the ETA on our last square? Trying to decide if I should just start a random book, or wait a day and find something that I know we can use.

Banked!

If Brianna stops by she can tell us how she's doing... but from the look of her profile, she's reading her book instead and zooming through it :)

message 3462: by Kazen (new)

Kazen

We're not quite done with our current square, but that doesn't stop us from thinking about our next one! ;)

How about we go for a coverall on the next square? We can throw our two earned bonuses at it (extra power square, all power squares → x3) to make it extra pointsy, and completing it gets us 100 points as well. Go out with a bang! What'dya say? :D

message 3463: by Lory (new)

Lory | 629 comments I think that sounds like a great idea! I am about halfway through the doorstop, The Name of the Wind. Hopefully this will fit towards something for the next square and we can get lots of points!

I forget how much time it takes to read LONG books!

I even told my boyfriend to leave and find something to do till I was done. He was being really annoying asking me 50,000 questions about what I was reading lol

Tough day at the hospital so I'm going to reset my brain a bit before messing with the spreadsheet. Kazen Wow, this is an amazing board! There are lots of pictures to bend to our will, and none of the text tasks look crazy hard. I'm going to request that our two bonuses be applied to this board, yea!

Some notes going forward:

- We have two team squares. For those tasks we can use a book that one of the members of said team has read.

- For "book won award", let's stick to awards that appear on the book's main page, in the award section.

- If you notice squares that work for your banked books, let us know so we can fit them in.

Yeaaaa tasks and squares - read on, Red Pandas! :D

Bety (betyplusbooks) | 211 comments Ray: This is largely a symptom of the slump. The most I'm into any book is like 30%, and typically I would be at least halfway through a book in a day.

Kazen: Banked book uses:

Ok, so Harry Potter and the Cursed Child talks about the dark mark, which has a skull on it, which should work for the skull and crossbones. Also published in 2016, but I think someone else has that covered. Maybe also the clown, as it looks like a child and is sad, so cursed child? That might be kind of a stretch. Also read by Ashley on the Basilisks team.

Speak was made into a movie.

Now for Summer Knight, this might be a stretch, but I was thinking the umbrella because if Dresden doesn't stop this thing there will be wacky and extreme weather? Or the reaper because someone dies.

For the following, I'm really open to waiting until other people make claims and then taking what's left of my potential reads...

Currently-reading potential claims:
-Symbiont is #2 in a series, also has crazy medical conditions (nurse, syringe), lots of weird science (beakers). The cover also has images of these blue spheres that look kind of like blueberries.
-Half-off Ragnarok has basilisks, as well as a character that is a scientist (beakers) and uses syringes for his science (syringe).
-Illuminae won a BUNCH of awards, but I think that's covered. People also die in that book, so grim reaper maybe. Also read by Ashley on Basilisk team.

Thinks on my to-read list that would work for other tasks:
-Ready Player One for Tetris.

I'm also willing to jump in and search for something to read for squares that don't get claimed.

Bety (betyplusbooks) | 211 comments I also checked out Stargirl, which is a short audiobook published in 2000 which I can finish today.

message 3497: by Bety (new)

Bety (betyplusbooks) | 211 comments Ok, because I'm crazy, I have a virtual checkout or a selected book that I own for every potential square. So whatever you want me to do I'm covered! For now I'm reading Symbiont until I receive further instructions.

Caly ☯ Crazy Book Lady | 596 comments Whoa! Can the rest of the team get a book in? I thought we put in banked books that work first and then everyone chooses 1 square to start. ?

Oh, I'm not claiming anything, just suggesting what I could theoretically cover and then waiting to see what squares aren't in demand. Don't worry, I have no intentions of reading 25 books this week!
