Everything is going pretty well here in Japan but man, it's hot. :( And even days when it's not so hot (33C/91F instead of 37C/99F) the humidity will melt you. So happy not to have interpreting tomorrow so I can loll about in AC, hehe. And Friday's early appointment is looking more and more like a blessing - leaving the house at 6:30am will at least make the temperature bearable! Is anyone else suffering through a heat wave right now? Those of you down under, feel free to brag about your chilly mornings. ;)

The banner on the book is 'green'...not sure you'd consider it a 'thing' though.

I'm anxious for some BINGO strategy. Are there any specific kinds of books I should work on checking out from the library in preparation...any ideas welcome!

No pink or green though:( I have a 4 day break right now, so I can probably squeeze two more books in before Bingo.

I don't think they have; I've been checking obsessively. I will link them here if I see them pop up!

It has been incredibly hot here in TN as well. Ready for summer to be over for sure. Otherwise things are going well. I should be able to finish my current book before Bingo starts - No pink or green but it does have an N plus characters with M and B so far.

As usual, I find the rules very confusing.
Looks like we should submit everything we read for the wheelathon time period though.

I am currently reading

Which has pink on the cover (dress), but is sort of non-fiction so no real characters.
I still have a day and friday I am traveling, so I can read at least one more book. Not sure what would be most adventageous or useful. Should I just read whatever?

Yup i love the series too. Once i discovered the series ( a long time ago) i chowed down book after book until i read half way through this then i had to stop- cant remembr why and i had forgotten all abt it until last week. Brought back all the memories of the super awesome prev. books.

I actually understand how this one works for the most part, except all the stuff the captains have to do to submit,(but I don't need to worry about that ;-) ) . It does seem however that we are going to have to be more coordinated in our reading choices, which could be hard for some of us slower readers (Mostly me it seems) . It will be frustrating if I am reading a book for a certain square and by the time I finish that square was already used and my book wont work for any other squares. So I will do my best to find shorter books that work for more than one square and try to keep up.

Yea! That should cover the pink task nicely :)

Oh wow, congrats! Any books that you finish after Wheel will count for Bingo, so no stress :)

Well done! Unfortunately the banner doesn't count... I'm trying to convince myself that it's colored cellophane but it's not happening. ;)

Hard to say without the board, but we'll be getting the board soon, bwahaha :D

The rain is mean for playing tricks! Here it likes to rain randomly in the afternoon and soak any laundry I have on the line, hehe.

Huzzah! Just a note going forward - titles like Mr., Mrs., Deputy, and so on don't count towards the spell out, sadly. :( No worries though - you have three other letters covered, including the elusive O!

Great job finishing that chunkster! I read the first couple books of this series a while ago but got away from it for some reason... still remember a handful of those names, though, hehe.

Yeaaa for pink! And the character name Cricket Bell made me laugh - one of the temples I love here in Kyoto is the Temple of the Bell-ringing Cricket :D

Could you double check and make sure this is on your read and wobble shelves? It's not showing up in the spreadsheet for some reason :( Thanks!

THIS. This this. I love doing spreadsheet stuff but I'm so ready for a change :P

Looks like we should submit everything we read for the wheelathon time period though."
I think the rules will make sense once we see our board and how the spreadsheet is set up. And yes, it seems to be to our advantage to submit everything we can during wheelathon. :)
eta: That being said, any books that you don't finish in time WILL count for Bingo, so no worries there!

Yeah, the Milton books are looking like more trouble than they're worth right now, don't they. :/ It does look like the bonuses we've already earned carry forward though.
Ooooo, I remember eyeing your book when it came out - I can't wait to see what you think!
And as for the book after that one - read whatever makes you happy, we'll fit it in somewhere :)

We'll be running this one a little differently - everyone will be able to call/claim one task, so no one will take it away from you. :) It'll be kept track of in a GOAL post on each page. Here's an example from a previous challenge (just ignore the 25 days thing). So fear not, we're here for ya! :D
eta: Also, I am so joining you on the slow readers bench. I'm reading two non-fiction books right now, one academic (=kinda boring :P) and one heavy. Such slow going! ~slog, slog~

And there's good news - we can sneak a peak at our first Bingo board! We won't be able to carry over any books from Wheel but we'll have an idea of what we can read next. There are all different patterns we can chose from, too... let me see if I can get the spreadsheet to cooperate....

Even if it's fixed we need to choose a pattern before we know which squares we'll need. So don't claim squares right away, please - once we settle on a pattern I'll put up a GOAL post with what can be claimed. And we can't use any books finished before Bingo starts, so we have time. :)

I'm a little confused. Books we don't finish can go towards bingo?

...that makes sense in my head but it's late, so let me know if I just made the mud murkier ;)
