I wouldn't really worry about it - we can search most books on Amazon if need be :). And we'll probably be with this dragon for a while!

prag ♻ (janayanation) @Brianna did you like Lola and the Boy Next Door? People rave about the Anna and the French Kiss series a lot, but I didn't really like any of the books, much like P.S. I Still Love You and Girl Online.

Way too perky, I'm quite cynical and I like my protagonists badass yet deep screw-ups, not fluffy optimistic little kittens!

Kazen Ella wrote: "Hi kazen. is it possible for you to maybe let us know when a word is waiting for a letter to be complete, then that way we could consider doing a book for it (if we happen to have something to fit ..."

Ella, sure thing! Right now this is how many possible books we have for each letter (eta update after latest spin):

D - 10
R - 9
A - 12
G - 5
O - 1
N - 5

So Os are in the shortest supply. Even books without Os help too - each O book needs five others to make a word, after all! I'll be playing with the sheet this morning afternoon^ so these numbers are sure to change, but that's the basic idea of it.

I know that some of us are more goal-orientated types and this openness can feel a bit like being out at sea. Things will get more interesting whenever we decide to spin for a new word - there will be two random color tasks instead of one, and there's no telling what letters we'll need! So there's that to look forward to :)

^ woah, when did that happen? ~gulps more tea~

Ooo, this is a classic! I read it a few years ago and told myself I need to get to the sequel... and summer is perfect for vampires, yes? Hehe.

And thank you for the characters! I found a pink quote easily that has two other colors, too, so triple word score! ;)

Only the phrase is required, so no worries. I add the page number when I have it but that's more for my reference than any particular need. :)

I ran some numbers and we're getting more points for the books now than we would have in Distance... silver lining for the win? ;) I had a good night's sleep so the tank's recharged, ready to attack the TBR with ya! Hope you don't have any more work today... boo anything that takes away from reading :P

Yea book! Non-fiction characters are weird. If it's a factual account (like this one, it looks like) there are no "characters". However, if it's a memoir there can be characters, because it's told more like a story. Clear as mud? ;)

Luckily this book counts for both D and A as is so it still fits perfectly, despite not counting for any characters. And I think I know just the place for it...

Well, unless we wait for nearly a full week before spinning the wheel again, in which case it drops down to one... but I'm not sure if we're that patient!

message 2073: by Kazen (new)

Kazen Bethany wrote: "Well, unless we wait for nearly a full week before spinning the wheel again, in which case it drops down to one..."

I asked about this - it turns out we'd have to spin once before the end of the week, which would put us up to two color tasks. Then, after the new week starts, another spin would get us one again. If we go a whole week without spinning, the first spin of week two will still get us two tasks.. it has to do with the way the spreadsheet is set up.

It is going to be interesting - sitting on dragon for a long period of time may get us the most points, but we have to think about our sanity, too! Hehe

Bethany wrote: "*Uses as excuse to read entire October Daye series in the next 4 weeks*"

Bwahaha, I like your thinking! ;)

message 2074: by Bety (new)

Bety (betyplusbooks) | 211 comments @Kazen Oh, that makes sense. So strategically, I would imagine we would want to spin late enough that we have time to finish filling it out at least once before the beginning of the new week, then spin again at the beginning of the new week. Maybe we should plan to re-spin mid-week, leaving us plenty of time if we get a long word and complicated color bonus tasks?

message 2075: by Kazen (new)

Kazen Bethany - that's assuming we want to spin at all. Our current word has an easy color task and I've yet to find a book (I think) that doesn't have one of the letters. And it's short, meaning our books get maximum value point-wise. And knowing what letters are rare, we can read for them specifically. It's a quandary but a happy one :)

Kazen

Current word: DRAGON
Possible books for each letter (remembering that some overlap):

D - 13
R - 12
A - 15
G - 7
O - 2
N - 7

Current color bonus: pink in text
Possible books: 13

Most needed: books with O in the spell out
Could also use: books with G and/or N in the spell out

(I'll update the numbers when they change. Look for a similar post near the top of future pages :)
