I love it too, but it is slower. I would suggest everyone read Persuassion, because that is both the shortest and my favorite Jane Austen. lol

Completion Post!The Kiss of Deception
492 pages. Works for Chariot Decoration and page jumping. Yay for travel reading!
I quite liked the book. It ended on a cliffhanger which is completely frustrating.
Still working on The Stolen One
, but I am slow with audio books.Lastly, how are chariot decorations coming along? I am really wanting to read the second in the series...
which is 480pages, but doesn't fit for decoration.Final stretch!

When Did You See Her Last? by Lemony Snicket

There were two spots for this in PJ when I started it (yesterday, heh), but they both seem to be taken now. I guess we can use the metal spikes (on the fence) for a Chariot decoration...?
Looks like the 351 - 400 spot is going to be taken by Karin, and the 451 - 500 spot by Lory? Hm.. not sure what to read next. PJ is getting awfully complicated/crowded. I will poke around my TBR for chariot decorations instead I guess.
Question: If we want to swap something from PJ Heat 1 or 2 into Heat 3 or 4, what date is the latest it can be started? That is, Heat 3 & 4 opened for us just a few days ago -- can we use books for them that we read before they opened for us, but still during the Olympics time frame?Hope that makes sense.
I'm checking my PJ H1 & H2 books for chariot decorations and may want to read a different (un-decoration-y) book that fits the same slot to swap in. But gotta know about the dates first.
Ray (user2637) wrote: "Question: If we want to swap something from PJ Heat 1 or 2 into Heat 3 or 4, what date is the latest it can be started? That is, Heat 3 & 4 opened for us just a few days ago -- can we use books for..."Hi Ray, I am not sure if I totally understand your question but...
We cannot fill in Heat 3 or 4 with books with a finished read date before the bonus round was opened up. It doesn't matter when we started reading them, so long as it was after Olympics started (i.e. 2 July). But because the bonuses didn't open up until a couple of days ago, we can't use any books that have a "read date" earlier than when the bonuses opened.
So, if you wanted to swap out a Heat 1 book into Chariot Decorations, and then used a book from Heat 3 or 4 to fill in Heat 1 that would be fine.
But if you wanted to move a book that you finished before the bonuses opened up into Heat 3 or 4, then you couldn't do that.
Does that make sense?
Sounds like you understood my question perfectly!! I was checking out some other teams' spreadsheets and noticed some of them have "old" books filled into the newly-opened bonus rounds, so I wasn't sure what to think. Then again, those teams have all sorts of weirdness going on in their spreadsheets....Thanks!

The Shell Collector by Hugh Howey. It has 282 pages so fits into the 251- 300 slot for page jumping and it has a shell on the cover we could use as a chariot decoration. I would really like to help the team and read something we can use for Olympics for sure. I will have this done before Friday, promise!
Just popping into say I finished my six hour sprint, holy cow. Kind of sad it landed on the first clear day of summer - the rainy season clouds have finally lifted and the heat is settling in. Trying to figure out a way to relax tonight that doesn't involve reading! Hehe.Complete:

A big enh on this one. The language in the first half was great and made up for a lack of story, but it grew more threadbare as it went. If you're a big language person you may like it (heaven knows I highlighted a bunch of stuff) but plotty readers like myself will be disappointed. :/

So so for me. One of those 'from a different POV' books...I don't appreciate these so mush...some of the 'now' thrown in.
Starting Prince CharmingI need a ruling on...
I've been reading this series for coaching. I read 1-3. Skipping #4...sounds awful to me...this book is #5. There is no mention of boxing/fighting in the description; however, it's categorized as a 'fighting' book by 20+ readers. The original MC...Remy...I'm sure makes several appearances in the book. Is this going to be enough for it to count for coaching? If not, I'm not going to read.
Thanks

Grah, it's a pain when the story is decent but the POV is from an icky person's head. (It's late, 'icky' is the best adjective I got :P)
As far as Ripped - it doesn't have fighting in the synopsis so I don't think it'll work for Coaching. :/

I never pick up a book that I don't want to read (I only torture myself by completing those bad books that I thought were good heheh.) I dont mind the dark romances, I just cant do them back to back (or u'd find me depressed or mental, in a corner, wondering why we live...hahaha)

Question re: email from Mods-- are we a chatty team? I signed up with "either chatty or not chatty" (or whatever is was), so I don't know!
I second Ray's question - I can't remember what I included in my sign up sheet and I know I'm not all that chatty - but I can work to improve that :)
I don't remember either...I think I said I could go either way as well. I do think we're doing well as a team though. I messed up when I signed up...my average book is about 250 pgs...so because I've been reading lots of longer books it looks like I'm behind,..I haven't felt pressured or not supported though...I think our captains are fabulous and I know I'm enjoying this. Anyway...let's continue to have fun!
Karin wrote: "I second Ray's question - I can't remember what I included in my sign up sheet and I know I'm not all that chatty - but I can work to improve that :)"Ray and Karin please don't worry - as long as you check in once a week it's all good.
Not sure if you have noticed, but I am not the chattiest person either :)
I haven't read through the whole of the Mods email - I have just woken up and I will need a BIG cup of coffee for that - there seems to be a lot of info in there....
Ha. We have a mix of people who signed up, but in general we are a majority "not-chatty". In general, I would say tune in at least once a week, but it doesn't have to be anything beyond a acknowledgement that we captains arn't talking to walls, unless you want to chat.

Jinx!
You may have noticed that Margret and I are around, but shamelessly use Kazen's awesome updates to reflect most of our combined input. lol

Huzzah, great work Kate!
I'm curious, did you finish reading the other books already? We don't need a review or anything fancy - as long as you put the books on your 'read' and 'wobble' shelves and let us know you're good to go. :)
Ella wrote: "No worries... I never pick up a book that I don't want to read (I only torture myself by completing those bad books that I thought were good heheh.) If we ever find you in a corner we'll drag you out and subject you to baby animal pictures until you're better. ;)
Tammie wrote: "Ok...ill read Legend (Real, #6) by Katy Evans instead...MMA coaching. "Got it! :)
My husband would approve of all these fighting books - he discovered Rocky (via the movie Creed) recently and has been all over it. On random mornings I can here strains of the theme music in the house, hehe.

Tammie wrote: "I messed up when I signed up...my average book is about 250 pgs...so because I've been reading lots of longer books it looks like I'm behind"Actually you're way ahead! The spreadsheet thinks you've read several more books than it expects, so you're doing amazingly well. I, on the other hand, have read a couple fewer than the sheet expects, hehe. So fear not and read on! :)
(And I'm super glad you feel supported and not pressured - yeaaa team!)
Hello! I've been reading up on how the challenge works, but I'm a little lost on our status for it, so if anyone could give me a summary of what we need read I would appreciate it! I have an inherited personal library of 2000+ books and a secondhand book store addiction, so I should have stuff to satisfy some needs. Also, should I be posting stuff I've read since this challenge started?
Hi Bethany !I'm Rose (co-captain). It looks like you've been okayed to have us count books started after June 17th. You don't have to post them here, but if you add them to your wobble shelf they will pop up in our spreadsheet. Take a look at the first couple of pages for handy links, and the olympics folder.
You are coming in right on the tail end of olympics, so we are just finishing up a few categories. Don't worry too much about knowing event rules, since we will change to a new event after Friday.
Currently we are working on finishing up some chariot decorations, which can be any books that have decorative elements on them.
Otherwise just read what you want, and we will fit it in. :)
finding a msg from the mods in ur inbox, first thing in the morning feels like a teacher's slip. i was like 'uh-oh wat did i do?'... lol then i realised it was just a general msg.. (funny how the brain doesn't work normally in the morning but goes an extra mile in imagining all sorts of scenarios)
Hi Bethany - Welcome to Red Pandas!! It is so exciting to have you join our team.I am Margaret, one of the co-captains.
Please check out here for links to our spreadsheet (used for tracking books read and our goals) and other important Wobble information.
We can use any books you have read with a start date of 17 June 2016 onwards. So please add any of these to your wobble shelf and they will automatically update our team spreadsheet.
We our heading into the last days of Olympics - here's the latest update post from our team captain Kazen on what we are working on for that. But I wouldn't worry too much with Olympics as we only have a little over 2 days left to finish. And you aren't required to meet any of the mandatory tasks.
Of course, any of the books you have read that meet any of the Olympic tasks we will definitely snatch up! And the rest we will save for Wheel-a-thon, which is the next Wobble event.
So, with that in mind, just sit back and relax Bethany while you can :)
Our team spans 3 continents (North America, Asia and Australia) and multiple time zones so there is always somebody hanging out on the thread.
And Kazen, Rose (the other co-captain) and I are here to help out with any questions you may have.
Thanks everyone!I read

@Bethany, when you're typing a comment there's a spot just above the box that says "add book/author". If you click on that, you can search for the book. For these challenges, it's important to shelve the edition of the book that you read, as some have different numbers of pages or cover images. After searching, you can click on "other editions" under "add" but I like to just go to the page of the edition I read, and look at the URL.
For example, I just read Dancers in the Dark, and the URL is (with some spaces added to avoid it linking):
www .goodreads. com/book /show/ 27412758-dancers-in-the-dark
See the numbers before the book title? 27412758 is the identifier for the edition of the book I read. The easy trick for book covers is, you write:
[ bookcover:Name Of Book | Number of book ]
without spaces though. The | vertical line is above the enter key (on my keyboard anyway, haha). You can even leave out the name, or shorten it.
[ bookcover:|27412758 ] without spaces by the brackets becomes
Ta-da!!
i normally just click on add book/author... copy the number from my book page n paste it here. heheh no typing required.
