Not Working | What do you want to be when you grow up?

That god awful questions parents and adults ask children, "what do you want to be when you grow up?". I have never been able to answer this question without being confused and coming to the decision that "I don't know". And maybe that's why I find myself in the same position as Claire, the main character of Not Working, I never focused enough to know exactly what I wanted to do before I felt it was too late.

What did you want to be when you grow up?

What I thought I wanting to be when I "grew up":
- Veterinarian
- Psychiatrist
- Teacher (never concluded what kind)
- Psychologist (thanks Criminal Minds)
- Event Planner
- Fashionista (basically anything in the fashion industry)
- Editor (ahhahaha)
- And so on...

I also never liked the question. It assumes that when we "grow up" we should only ever want to do one thing and do that for the rest of our lives, anything less is a weakness of character.

I'm old enough now to know that there's no shame in wanting to change your career path if you're not happy!

That being said I totally thought I was going to be an Astronaut or a Bank Teller, and now I work in IT. I kind of missed the mark on both of those, haha!
