Hey everyone! I've been reading, but haven't finished one yet. I'm currently reading Steelheart as an audio, and I'm LOVING it, I have about 2 hrs left and should have it done today. I'm also reading The Reluctant Fundamentalist and The Samurai's Garden as paper books. I've just started both but I can see myself finishing them by the end of the week. I'm also planning on starting Fire Touched as soon as I finish Steelheart on audio. I'm loving the toppler, so much motivation!!!

We're up to 14 books read, as we start day 4. Go us. Keep those pages turning.
Make that 15! As I was posting my update, Elsbeth reported another book. I try to post these bulletins close to 9 a.m., which was starting time for me, but it is 8:42 and I got impatient.

lol, I have been reading, but we got a new puppy, so it's been a challenge resisting the epic cuteness. We were both reading in the backyard yesterday...seriously, could you resist this cuteness?

Oh Kristi - he is so cute. I can see why you have been distracted. I love the name! I had a ginger kitten called Merlin years ago. Good name choice :-) Can we all come to yours for strokes and cuddles with him?
I am LOVING my current toppler book Carrie! Just what I needed after 3 pretty average books. Will it be a 5 star?!? I guess we'll find out. I'm 40% in. As for my audiobook After Dark, I'm 17% in. I'm a little worried about this one as alternate chapters are a little confusing and as I'm listening to it I find my mind wandering off a little. I'm worried that I will not understand what's going on The narrator isn't helping. It's a woman but she sounds like an automated voice, except when she speaks the few conversations in Chinese. She is also quite slow. I've just downloaded a program to speed up mp3's s I can crank the speed up a little like I can with Overdrive audiobooks. Hopefully that will help, plus trying to keep my mind focused on the story.

You must have liked Steelheart then Kristi to have moved on to the next book. I have the other two books to read in the series. Have you read other Sanderson stuff before?

Have you read other Sanderson stuff before?"I didn't move on the the next one in the series after Steelheart, I just moved on to Fire Touched which is just my next Audiobook that was on my list for the toppler. I don't know if I'll continue with the Reconers series, not sure I liked Steelheart enough to be interested in the rest of the series.
Our numbers are quickly adding up! What a beautiful pup, Kristi. I can see that he might be "a bit" of a distraction from reading.
I've finished listening to The Life We Bury. It was okay, though everything was tidied up at the end more than I would like. Now I will listen toHarry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. This is the first Harry Potter ever for me. I have no idea how that happened.
For my print book, I have started The Wars by Timothy Findley. This is one of his earlier books. I have enjoyed other books of his, and am hoping this will be as good.

I have sometimes had to abandon an otherwise good book because the narration is too slow.

Come on over for some alligator cuddles (we're convinced that he's 3/4 alligator b/c he loves to chew on everything).
Kristi - Merlin is so adorable! It looks like he has the magical ability to charm everyone.

I got the name from one of the Arthurian books I was so into at the time.
Ah I see Kristi. As I saw a book with Fire in the title, I assumed it was the next in the series. It is a YA book but I thought it was fun. Sanderson is one of my favourite authors though which may have made me biased.
The app is called Audipo and it's for Android. It does lots of stuff it seems but it speeds stuff up which is why I got it. I've not used it yet but fingers crossed it will work OK.

Jingo likes to check out my books by licking the pages. There was one that he chewed so badly that I had to buy it from the library - he really liked that one. Oh, he's started coming upstairs again to see me, and to see if I have any treats :)
Hahahaha! My cat Oberon (I named him for the king of the faeries) was busy licking Harry Potter last night quite busily - he's also apt to chew books if I don't turn my attention to him. He's very jealous.Two (reported) books down and halfway through the big one.
lol, I'm glad this isn't something unusual! I have two older dogs as well and they leave everything alone, books are totally off limits. I forgot how much training and vigilance puppies take! Oh well, he's learning so I guess I can't ask for more than that.
Just finished Carrie - a 5 star read for me. Now in to Sons of Anarchy: Bratva which has a mode of transport (motorcycle) on the cover. I can't remember who it tributes right now.

We're currently at 26 books by my count. What a great team!
I hope i can finish my 2 books I'm reading. Saturday is a write off for me as i have to move my bkat up through the locks as i mentioned before. So that leaves me 2 days of reading. I have more commuting time and chores to do on Friday which will sort my audiobook out i reckon. Plus I'm only working for 1 hour tomorrow and I'm off on Friday. So fingers crossed.

You should see him when I catch him getting something out of the trash - and the funny part is that it's not food, it's the cardboard containers, napkins, mostly paper goods.
The Sons of Anarchy book really wasn't doing it for me so I've started Bone Crossed instead which is a fantasy - Alan Rickman tribute.
Finished my big book - so that's 4 to date to make up for the 4 disallowed ones. Should be able to knock another couple off before Sunday.My big Oberon is the only cat I have who has not been trainable - I think he has a degree of brain damage as his mother survived a huge house fire while carrying him. He's kinda odd! But very sweet and affectionate.
I can't upload pics due to very old equipment and multiple incompatibilities - I'll show all my little brothers and sisters (10 of them) when I get a new puter in a couple of months - anything like that is unbelievably expensive in NZ and I've had to keep putting it off due to car bills etc. I wish you could have seen Baby (aka Moriarty but he was rescued at 3 weeks and has been Baby ever since) climb into a chinese paper lantern last night which promptly rolled across the floor with him inside it and he got out and walked round and round it trying to figure out what happened and then got back in! It didn't move, he was mystified hahaha I had tears rolling down my face from laughing.*sad old cat lady blog*
And another one! I think I'll beat a record this time. I've started Une nuance de vampire ... I hope I can read another one after this one.
I've made a dint in my audiobook - over half way through now. I adjusted the speed to x1.35 so it will be quicker now to finish. I'm only 50 pages in to my print book (300 pg total) it might be a push. Fingers crossed.
Slightly early report today. We are up to 29 books! And we still have a little over 49 hours left to read. I can finish another book today. I bet others will as well. Keep reading, guys.
I think my next book will be The Liar for the Contemporary Romance task. I have the audio and I'm really not getting much paper reading done this week.

The look on his face almost made me feel bad about taking it away from him! It's crazy what the want to eat/play with!

Our book numbers are adding up quickly! Add all of the books in progress, our total is going to be terrific. I should be able to finish my next book, The Dressmaker of Khair Khana: Five Sisters, One Remarkable Family, and the Woman Who Risked Everything to Keep Them Safe, tonight. The setting is Kabul, Afghanistan, from 1996 to after Sept 11, 2001, when the city was under the control of the Taliban. It is the true story of a young woman who began a dressmaking business in her home, eventually employing and training numerous other women in her community, so they could provide much needed financial support to their families. It provides a harrowing look at what life was like for a woman during that time. This will fit the task for Rob Ford (religion).
I am at 80% on my audio and I still have loads of chores today so I'll definitely finish that one. As for my remaining print book, I'm 56% in and I'm hopeful on that one too. It may well be a personal best for me if I can get both finished!Go team!
