Erin (everchanginglady) I'll be honest, I'm amazed by the number of books that are posted on some of the other personal challenges. I'm usually good to get 6 books read in one year between work at my kiddos. But I'm happy to say that I've already read 9/12, and I'm working through three books currently. So, next year I will have to increase my goal to wherever I end up at the end of 2016 =). So, from reading other posts, here's my current status:

Read:
1.Stolen Voices
Read this as a quick read. There are a lot of similarities to this an The Giver I think with the running theme of a young person not really knowing their way in society due to some yet undiscovered gift. I would rate it a 3/5. It was an amusing read, but it's not one that I would ever come back to.

2. Of Mice and Men
I know this is a classic, and I did enjoy the read. However, there's not much difference between this and watching the movie. So, it lost something for me not being able to create my own characters. 4/5

3. It
5/5. This book does not disappoint for those interested in horror novels. I'm already a fan, but really gave me the chills.

4. Who Stole My Cheese?
2/5. This book could have been summed up in less than 10 pages. So, it's a shame that the story dragged out the way it did.

5. The Giver
5/5. Read this one to my five year old. And we were both really into the storyline....enough so that I've already bought the other three books to the quartet. I like the focus on asking questions in life and not just accepting the hand that you've been dealt.

6. The Phantom Tollbooth
3/5. Kind of slow in parts, but I appreciate the play on language that runs through this book. Very clever. Another on that I read to my boy.

7. A Short Book About Drawing
4/5. This is a quick inspirational book for artists and journalists. This got me back to drawing when I was struggling to pick up a pen.

8.The Sword and the Stone
3/5. Very cutesy. Very slow. I really struggled to get through this one as there was nothing really to pull at the heart strings or to shock me.

9. Death of a Salesman
5/5. Very good. Very sad. Not sure how it is for others that have read it, but I saw a lot of myself in the characters.

Currently Reading:
1. The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test
2. Gathering Blue
3. La Fille du Train (The Girl on the Train french edition)

I have three going because I now have three different reasons for reading. I read 1) just for the sake of reading 2) I read to my five year old son at night and let him pick out words to spell out from each page 3) To build my language skills back up since I am trying to teach the kiddos French and am rusty.

I hope that wasn't too much ramble for one post =)
