I liked it a lot. I could relate easily to Yanyan and her drive to succeed. I was worried she would run off with Baoshu but I was glad she didn't. I liked learning about the history and customs of China and especially the history of Chinese American food. I admired Ailin as well and wish I had read her story before this one. Yanyan needs a sequel so we know what happens to her!
