4. Why does Charlotte Perkins Gilman change the point of view? Is it an effective technique?

Pip | 1822 comments It is a while since I actually read the story so I am guessing here, but I think that it started as a secret journal which Jane wrote surreptitiously because she had been forbidden to write and then changes, after her journal is discovered into an interior description of what is going on in Jane's mind. I do remember being very taken with the description into madness, so I think that this change in point of view was successful.
