One Nomination per person (2 if you really can't decide).

The book you nominate has to be an "South African author, english with an afrikaans flavor"

Nominations will be open until the 10th of June.

*** Can you host the discussion if your nomination is chosen? ***

To be a discussion Host you are agreeing to:
- read the book you nominated at the beginning of the month, if you haven't already read it.
- start the discussion in both the spoiler and spoiler-free threads by posting your thoughts and a few simple questions for readers to think/talk about
- inform the group if you're unable to host the discussion or will only be reading the book later in the month.

You may also offer to be the Host for someone else's nomination.

Authors and publishers may NOT nominate their own books for monthly discussions. Similarly, no one is permitted to rig the polls by inviting others or creating sockpuppets to join the group and vote for a book/author. Such votes will be disregarded and the book/author in question may be removed from the poll entirely.

Please tell us why you are nominating a certain book/author or why you want to read the book/author.

I nominate: Leopold Blue by Rosie Rowell

Leopold Blue by Rosie Rowell

It sounds interesting and it has all the Afrikaans words explained in footnotes.

It is very interesting Janice! It's one of the best South African novels I've ever read. I can recommend it to ANYONE. Here's my review if any of you would be interested! http://marelithalkink.blogspot.co.za/...

I love his books, but I haven't quite forgiven him for foisting Kobra on us yet.

The Karma Suture - will host.

I loved The Angina Monologues by the same author, great sense of humour and very South African.

I nominate Whiplash, by Tracey Farren. Whiplash

Tess, the film from the book, premieres at The Durban Film Festival on 20 June (I think that's the date) and will premiere in Cape Town and Joburg after that. Brilliant SA read, soon to be hitting the international film festival circuit. I'm not sure how to host but if someone points me in the right direction, I can give it a go. I must add, though, that I was Tracey's editor - not sure if that disqualifies me?

Maire, thanks for pointing out that you are the editor, it will disqualify you from nominating the book, but I've taken a look at it and it certainly looks interesting.

Lu, if it's OK with you, I'll then nominate it formally. I'm happy to discover a new SA author.

Whiplash

Yes, I thought it might! But great that Whiplash has now become Tess. :)
