Bec (gecko-girl) | 281 comments when i moved into my current house my bookshelves were organized by genre then author but that was about 6 bookshelves ago - now they are just wherever i can find space for them (which really bugs me as a librarian) I also have a spreadsheet on my phone (in alphabetical order by Author) so i know what books i have (except i haven't updated that since April 2018 so any i brought since then are just in a list in Notes on my phone but at least i can search them so that helps.

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 290 comments I was just scrolling through on this sunny Sunday afternoon and I came across this sleeping thread.

I tried organizing them alphabetically and then often found that it didn't work because I couldn't remember the exact name of the book. I have decided that there are the two types: fiction and non-fiction. So that's the first sort. Then within that, I sort them according to genre for novels, and subject matter for non-fiction.

I'm not doing too well with the non-fiction - I'm looking forward to reading some books I've had for many, many years. One day...

That's often where our challenges help out Anna. Reading books that have lingered way too long on our TBRs, find their way into an obscure position in said challenge ;)

Kaitlyn J Daniels | 1 comments Although I haven't started yet, I'm planning on categorising by genre and sub-categorising by alphabetical author name. I want to be published in the gothic horror genre so I'm starting a genre shrine to ensure that I'm well read in my genre of choice.
