A series that doesn't seem to have a name?

I'm wondering what to do about these two books by Nicholas Drayson:
#1: A Guide to the Birds of East Africa
#2: A Guide to the Beasts of East Africa

Both belong to a series, but I can't seem to find the name of it. And apparently the author doesn't have a website.
Should I leave them as separate books or use a generic temporary series name (like the main character's name)?

You could probably call it "Mr Malik."

It often happens that there is no official series title.

These mysteries seem to be written around Mr Malik. I would name the series after him for now.
