Don't have two heads or a face to scare the world but to me....well let's just say you'll never willingly see me in a photograph let alone in a selfie!

The many faces of soulless self-absorption captured by a, uh, 'smart' phone, and then appropriately sent up to that place where many have their heads (the clouds ... or their arses)!

I checked my thesaurus and damn if you aren't correct, Paula!
Thanks to all for your comments on my blog .

That's true, Lenita, however does that happen to you 120 times per year? Probably not.
I was just surprised by the inordinately high stats. You have to admit, Google reported some amazingly high numbers!

So is this:

The medium's different, but the impulse is the same. I'll let these gentlemen know they're narcissists next time I run across them.

I've seen both of the original paintings, and I must agree that in that medium, they're magnificent.
While I have no idea how you would work out the logistics of telling these old master artists that they're narcissists, it's likely pointless since they undoubtedly already know.
Including paintings, etchings and drawings, Rembrandt produced nearly 100 self-portraits, although the exact number is still argued.
The Van Gogh Gallery reports that he produced over 30 between the years 1886 and 1889.
In addition, the connection between artists and narcissism has been well studied. Google Scholar has over 31,000 articles on such studies.
These studies have also been very widely reported in the media with such articles as:
Did Rembrandt invent the selfie?
And...
Major Artists Are Also Major Narcissists, Says Science
...and many more.
Any such quirk of the human condition is an appropriate topic for satire.

What's Wrong With This Selfie?
Having never taken a selfie, I have to wonder what is the fascination with posting one's own likeness on the cloud? It's fair to ask...
