I just got an email about leaf marks shutting down. I guess we made the right decision to move here. Sad to hear that it is also shutting down.

I'm so glad you all made it here! It handmade a fabulous addition to my reading life.
Thats sad. I liked the site. I am glad we moved here though, another move would be rough.
I was just on the site, and was going to mention it here, as well, if someone else hadn't yet.
And tomorrow is the last day for shelfari, as well. Unless they pull the plug at midnight tonight...
While it was a very hard decision for the admins to make about where the new PBT home would be, this is the exact reason why we put so much weight with the Goodreads option: we just could not shake the feeling that LeafMarks was not stable in the long term. Not that GR is guaranteed to be open forever, but at least for the foreseeable future.I am sorry to those of you that were active on LM. There were many aspects of that site that I really enjoyed, and I certainly know the pain of having your book site shut down.
I got the email too, although I am not active there at all. I am so glad we didn't make the move there, although I think that was the second choice. But it just didn't feel robust enough and as sorry as I am to see it close, I am really grateful we chose to come here, another move would have been really difficult.
I can't help but feel like "phew . . .dodged a bullet", but also feel sorry for those who did end up there from Shelfari and now have to go through moving again. Ugh. Well, if any end up here we will be sure to make them feel extra welcome.

I did like earning the badges for community reading challenges.
I'm really sad about LM closing so soon after Shelfari but SO glad we don't have to move the group twice. Well chosen admins!
I can't say I'm surprised that it's closing although I am surprised it shut down so soon. I haven't been active there at all since we moved over here. I am very sad for the people who decided to stay over there because I can't even imagine going through the move again.I do really miss shelfari. We're making it work here but there's no question that discussions were easier over there. I will say that meeting Susie and the other new members to this group has been a definite plus!
