I had a few that i liked this season: Forever Amber
Girl at War
The Forgetting Time
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
The Italian Wife
My favourites this season were... mostly novellas, apparently. Nnedi Okorafor's Binti, Cherie Priest's Jacaranda, and K.J. Parker's The Last Witness.James S.A. Corey's Caliban's War was also great fun.
7 five star books for me!! I got into a pretty bad reading slump this season though and many of them are known 5 star re-reads to try and get me out of my slump.Feral Sins - New to me yummy paranormal series. Glad it was recommended to me in another group challenge!
Midnight in Death - Love this series as well! I'm amazed by how well the author can execute a mystery in novella form.
I had two 5-star reads and a bunch of 4-star reads. Looking for Alaska - loved the humor
No Buddy Left Behind: Bringing U.S. Troops' Dogs and Cats Safely Home from the Combat Zone - I'm a sucker for a good dog story.
A Backpack, a Bear, and Eight Crates of Vodka: A Memoir - Loved the title and loved the writing
My favorite book this season was The Plague and I. The entire memoir is set in a T.B. asylum in the 1930s. She hardly ever left her bed, during her stay, but Ms. MacDonald managed to write one of the most darkly comic, charming, and observant books I've read in a long time. I also learned about the medical practices and health philosophies applied to the chronically ill in those days.I also really enjoyed Alcatraz Island: Memoirs Of A Rock Doc. How can you go wrong with getting the inside scoop on Alcatraz from the man who served as the head physician during Al Capone's stint in the prison? Totally fascinating. I can't believe this read doesn't have a higher rating.
This is easy, since I have read only one 5-star book this year ... for task 50.1 in Spring 2016 SRC challengeZeitoun by Dave Eggers.
Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. Loved this book. It was fun and original, and full of 1980s geek culture references. 5 stars.
This time I read great books from different genres. My favorites were:-Night by Elie Wiesel
-Shades of Grey by Jasper Fforde
-Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
-Sushi for Beginners by Marian Keyes
-The BFG by Roald Dahl
