The Third Rail by Michael Harvey - 3 stars

Michael Kelly, a Chicago PI, witnesses the shooting of a woman as she is waiting for a train. This is just the first in a series of murders that seem frighteningly random but are instead carefully plotted by an unknown assailant. Kelly works closely with the Chicago PD, the FBI and the shady mayor to solve the crime but it brings back a painful memory from his childhood that might just be related to the current deaths.

Somewhere in the middle of this book I lost the plotline and became very confused. The writing is fine, the story was exciting but I don't know how it got to where it ended up. I did listen to it on audio so maybe I got distracted along the way but that usually doesn't happen. It was kind of a "head scratcher" for me.
