Do any of your books take you back to a happy time?

I recently told a friend that I enjoy opening and reading books that were given to me from my grandfather's library. They elicit a Proustian moment just by touching, smelling, and taking in their beauty, age, and essence. I am transported to another place and time where I am happily reading with my grandfather.

Most of my fave books take me back.
I remember reading and two years ago while on holiday in Argentina.
I first read while on vacation in England.
while I was at summer camp.
I read and one summer on my porch.
at the airport.
Its so fun to remember where I read a book for the first time because as you if I pick up that book, my mind goes to that time.

I've read both of these series multiple times, but for whatever reason it's the first books of each that really stuck with me since I was a child

I adore the full Julie trilogy, but this takes me back to the million times I read this in middle school and first started contemplating writing my own animal-based book

OMG, YES!

First, The Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Those were the first books I fell in love with!

Anything by Roald Dahl or Beverly Cleary.

The First American Girl books (Kirsten, Molly, Samantha)

The Boxcar Children

Nancy Drew

Narnia

The Baby-Sitter Club books (huge chunk of my middle school years went to these!) And Sweet Valley Twins and Sweet Valley High.

Charlotte's Web

The Secret Garden

Anne of Green Gables, and other books by Lucy Maud Montgomery

Anything Dr. Suess

And I ADORED The Little Engine That Could when I was in kindergarten. That's my only clear memory from Kindergarten!

Okay, I do see now that you asked if any books take you too a happy time not just if you remembered where you where whewn you first read it. Buut it does go for the same thing if I was going through a bad time my nice brain usually delets the memory, and hey just the fact that am reading a great book makes it a happy time.
Ohh, also: I remember reading in Cuba, my sister was playing soccer and I was enjoying the book.

Lord of the Rings! Whenever I see those books, I can remember the hours I spent reading this series over and over again in my bedroom as a kid :)

Little House on the Prairie really brings back memories of moving ALL the time (I was an Air Force brat), but wherever I went, I'd go get LHotP from the school library and feel like I was just fine with my best friends.

LofR was another series that I reread every year! I always felt like I was safe and secure with my best friends.

Definitely the Little House on The Prairie books for me too! My mother read them all to me and my sisters. We would pile in her bed with her and listen, those are such lovely memories.

oh wow, I loved her books when I was a kid. The film adaptation of The Mouse and the Motorcycle is still one of my favorites <3
