Terence | 4 comments Hi I wanted to know if there was concensus or policy for kindle comics being added with volumes in a series? I ask because after checking the manual and searching groups I've been seeing some alternate options but no definitive rule. I've seen at least three different ways that librarians are listing the kindle issues and volumes in these series and then it's turning into a silent edit war of librarians changing it back and forth the way they want it.

Arto | 59 comments This thing has been asked dozen times and we haven't clear policy.

There is no definite rule and GR staff doesn't answer. Basically if it has ASIN it is acceptable. So Spiderman issues 1 to 6 as an individual paperback are not allowed, but combined volume containing issues 1 to 6 with ISBN is a book. Then issues 7 to 12 are sold thru Amazon Kindle edition with ASIN and they are aacepted, because they have ASIN and then also single paperbacks can be added. But then you might think those first six paperback issues should be added too to make series complete or in different country issues 1 to 4 and 7 and 12 are combined a volume or ISSN paperback are not allowed, because sigle issues or ISSN magazines are not allowed. Here in Finland many (Marvel/DC) comics were published with complete story arcs and contained 3 to 6 single issues, but sold as ISSN's so you might find if there is possible other edition with ISBN and merge with it to avoid possible removal. Also many mass market paperbacks were sold montly ISSN magazine series and authors were sometimes famous or some famous pen names were used to cover several authors like Orson Scott Card, Brian Aldiss, Erle Stanley Gardner, Stephen King Collections etc. several cases author names were hidden under publisher's name like "Amazon Detective Stories" "Penquin Sci-fi Masterworks" etc. So you never know how other librarians treate books you add, because policy isn't clear.

So I suggest you to add ISBN or ASIN, because it seems to help not removing books you added. And don't try to correct things others added because it causes just a war. So if you have Audiobook in your hand and it ha 10 CD's, being AudioCD mp3 CD, but someone has put it under Audiobook or vice versa don't change it. same applies to comics if it is put under mass market paperback even though you see it to be hardcover let it be and enjoy reading. Someone might get upset about changes and you might get warning.

Terence | 4 comments Thanks Arto. After three weeks I didn't think I'd get a response at all. It's just hard setting things up properly when there is no definitive rule on it. I try to be respectful and avoid silent editing wars.
