playback acting strange in my channels

I scanned the other threads here and didn't see this issue in particular, but I could have missed it as there are quite a few threads. Sorry if this is a repeat question. When I am in "My Channel" and I start playing an item, when that item ends, the next starts automatically. Good. If I am not active on my phone, the phone locks and then the next item doesn't play.

The setting for not locking while audible is playing is on. Doesn't seem to matter if I am on the audible app (in the foreground) or in another app with audible playing in the background, etc. While the item is actively playing, even if a long item, the phone doesn't lock (as expected). As soon as an item ends, the phone locks. The next piece starts to play as expected, but then a third part won't play. If I unlock the phone, it automatically resumes.

This only seems to happen in Channels. It doesn't happen when I am playing a book with multiple parts. My WIFI is set to stay on even in phone lock mode, I double checked that. This happens when connected to WIFI as I shut off streaming while not on WIFI. Any suggestions? I tried all the tips I have found. Rebooting. Double checked the lock settings 8 times. Even changed the settings to wait 5 minutes before locking, but all has the same effect.

FYI: This is on an android device.

I managed to get it to work if I turned on the android developer mode and forced it to never sleep while plugged in. Then it will play continuously, otherwise it won't.
