I have 3 files, but they are all 15 meg. I had the same trouble with Jemidar, and converted 1/2 of it to word files. Let me know, I'll see if I still have the smaller files.

I received the three PDF files from DL with no problem, but every mail server is different in their quirks and quibbles.
I'll work on finding/finishing the smaller files for you.
Jeannette wrote: "I'll work on finding/finishing the smaller files for you."I think she's got them. Typo on the email blamed on the iPad keyboard.
Great! It's a pain getting them "photographed" into a word document. :P
Yes, thanks to Misfit's patience with my address typo, I got them last night and started reading it this morning. Trying to savour it, but at the same time so excited to read something new. Slowing myself down by looking at the ads and things on the pages. So neat to see a slice of history like that.
Hi all! I've been lurking for a week or so but decided I should jump in and introduce myself. I'm Tadiana, a 50ish mom of four (ages 11-19), an IP (intellectual property) lawyer, occasional proofreader, and longtime fan of Mary Stewart's mystery-romances. My favorites:Nine Coaches Waiting
Madam, Will You Talk?
This Rough Magic
The Moonspinners
Way back in the Stone Age, when I was a teenager, I read her Merlin books. Sometime I may re-read them, but probably not right now. I'm always up for a re-read of her mysteries, though, despite the insta-love that's in most of my favorite Stewart novels. :) I own almost all of them, in battered, well-loved paperbacks.
I think I still have it on my PC at home. That's about four hours away from now, unless Jeanette beats me to it.
I'm just heading out for a couple hours. I'll check in with you when I return.
Jeannette wrote: "I'm just heading out for a couple hours. I'll check in with you when I return."
I do still have it. :)
I do still have it. :)
I just sent them off in 3 parts. Check your junk folder. Enjoy! :)
Tadiana wrote: "Got em, thanks. They didn't even go to junk mail."
Good. Glad they weren't too big for your account. I enjoyed the story, and the ads in the magazine, too.

Thanks for sending those off J, that saves me firing up the desktop today. You know kitty hates me sitting there instead of with her on the couch :)

We just started a group read of The Crystal Cave, Tadiana, if you'd like to join in. The first discussion section is here:

You and I recently became GR friends (in large part probably because of our shared love of Mary Stewart) :D
We'll probably be reading more of her romantic suspense novels this year - we still have a few to go. Now that you're a member of this group, you'll see the updates on what's up next.
Too many years since I read The Crystal Cave, and it's not in my library. I may just have to wait until you discuss one of her mysteries. In the meantime I'm trying to figure out why some readers rate My Brother Michael so highly and it kind of left me cold. Maybe I wanted a little more romance? I just got that one through paperbackswap a few months ago. Maybe I need to re-read it....

Sorry I missed your intro, Tadiana! Welcome to the group. We vote (informally) every month on what we'll read next; as Hannah says we have a few more of Stewart's romantic suspense novels still in the queue.

Sure thing! Diane Lynn snagged a copy of the magazine last year and scanned it in for us. It comes in 3 parts, so watch for it. :)
Janetje wrote: "Wind off the small isles?? I've been looking for that for years! I even once ordered an expensive used copy, but never received it. Can I have a copy please Jeannette? "
I just looked at your profile -- you live in Germany, near Frankfurt? My husband grew up just north of Frankfurt, in Bad Vilbel. :)

Yes, I live in Frankfurt actually. Bad Vilbel is really close, I had some friends there and used to go there quite often.
I got the emails, thanks so much! An amazing 1968 magazine complete with ads and pictures! This is really great.
Wow, small world. I served an LDS (Mormon) mission in Germany in the 80's and spent 3 months in Bad Vilbel. Loved it!

Small world indeed! My husband and his family moved first to Wehrheim/Taunus in the late 60s, then north to Hildesheim, in 1982. His parents still live there. (He's standing here so I tell the story straight! lol)
Glad you both have Wind Off the Small Isles!

Welcome to the group Tadiana. I joined not long ago. It's a very nice group of folks, very helpful and knowledgeable too. We all share a love for MS. I just wish she had written more books!! Judith
Tadiana and Janetje,Now that you've gotten your emailed copies of Wind of the Small Isles, you might want to delete your email addresses. You can't be too careful these days online!

Good idea, Hannah. I'll edit them out of my responses, as well.

I can't edit the other posts, and I don't want to delete them, so we'll wait until they both pop back in. :)

Looks like one of you took care of it for us--thanks! And Hannah, I should have known you'd be here. Good to see you! Your review of Madam, Will You Talk was awesome.
I just read Wind off The Small Isles for the first time in more than 30 years and I still loved it. Such a beautiful little love story. I also liked the reference to Julian Gale from This Rough Magic fame. Are there any other cross-references in her books, I wonder?
Tadiana wrote: "Your review of Madam, Will You Talk was awesome."Thank you! That was our first group read from last January (2013), and it was a fun one. We had alot of participants, and the book was (generally) a hit with us all.

It was the only Stewart I had never read, and I was afraid I never would.
I enjoy cross-references in books also. It's nice to get a small peek at a character you remembered in a previous novel. I'm racking my brain, but can't think of any other instance where Stewart did this again.

It was a lot of fun! Next read has to have smokes, nylon nighties, and at least one car chase in it.

And men who can quote Shakespeare without sounding lame. ;) I'm bummed that I've missed some of the best group reads. What haven't you read and discussed yet?
Tadiana wrote: "What haven't you read and discussed yet?"Ladies, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the only ones left to read are:
Thunder on the Right
My Brother Michael
Rose Cottage
and
Thornyhold
I usually read Thornyhold once a year either Jan, Feb. or March, so if anyone is interested in doing a group read of it in Feb. or March I'll join in that.

The list is correct, except for the others in the Merlin series, after The Crystal Cave. I'll be asking for suggestions for the February read once we get through this one, so please nominate Thornyhold again on the "buddy reads" thread. :)

Hello! I'm new here and wanted to do a short intro. My name is Lynne and I'm also known as the California Tea Queen....a title I pronounced upon myself during my very first tea at the St. George Hotel in San Francisco in 1996. After getting on the internet around that time met many wonderful book loving and tea drinking friends. I first read Mary Stewart in my teens...during the late 60's and 70's. Last year I decided to re-read all her mystery/suspense books in published order. After a few books where I did not remember the plot at all and NOTHING seemed familiar...I came to the conclusion....I must have have read The Moonspinners over and over again and only THOuGHT I had read all of MS!! Lol! So.....between used bookstores, library sales, ebay and the public library I'm now getting towards the finish line. My favorites so far are: Nine Coaches Waiting and This Rough Magic. Last read was The Ivy Tree.
Glad to find other MS affectionados!

I really did read all of them over and over again. It would be so nice to have a new MS. Only the later "cottage" books I only read once, and I'm looking forward to this week's buddy read of Thornyhold. Will you be joining us?
Moonspinners was my first Mary Stewart book too. Probably because of that book, I had a mad crush on a guy in high school who had a Greek last name and gorgeous, wavy dark hair like MS describes the Greek men as having. :)
Teaqueen wrote: "Hello! I'm new here and wanted to do a short into. My name is Lynne and I'm also known as the California Tea Queen....a title I pronounced upon myself during my very first tea at the St. George H..."Welcome aboard. I think my favorite so far is Nine Coaches, but I'm not done yet.
Yes, I've had a delightful year of reading these amazing novels for the first time. I moderate a private book group on Facebook and after yapping so much about MS, others gals in the group started reading Stewart too and it's been fun to compare notes. Most had Really read her as a teen....unlike me....and speaking of crushes, I had a huge one on Peter McEnery who was the lead opposite Haley Mills in the movie. Is a Buddy Read a Group discussion? Have not read Thorneyhold, but did read Rose Cottage and stormy Petrel. When you refer to the cottage books. Is this what you're talking about? If I can get hold of a copy of the book would love to join in the discussion.
Thanks for the welcoming emails!
Welcome, Lynne! My favorite MS is This Rough Magic...mostly because I love Max Gail.:) I named my daughter Vanessa after Vanessa March in Airs Above the Ground, so that's one of my favorites too, and I love My Brother Michael also. What can say, you can't beat MS. This group is great, hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Judith
