Rescuing the dolphin plus (view spoiler)? That's definitely in my top few MS scenes! Off the top of my head, my others are the AATG scene that Diane's probably thinking of (view spoiler), the dance/(view spoiler) in NCW, and the car chase across the south of France in MWYT.
I reserve the right to add to this list. :)
Yep, Tadiana, that's the one in AATG I was thinking of. I just adore it!Those are all great scenes. :)
HiI can't believe it took me so long to find this place. And I am really sorry to have missed the Buddy Read of My Brother Michael, Is there any other Buddy Read planned?
I heard Wind of the Small Isles on Audible, It was brilliantly done.
Jay
Welcome Jay. I missed the My Brother Michael buddy read too. I'm hoping to get to it next month. The threads always remain open, so you can actually comment any time on a book.
*blows the dust off this thread* Hi everyone! It's time for another Mary Stewart buddy read! Head over to the buddy read thread and give us your vote if you're interested in participating:https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
And welcome, Jay! I'm glad you found us!
Hi everyone :O)Never read any Mary Stewart although I was aware of her. Nine Coaches has been on my TBR for ages and one book leading to another, I found this group :O) Looking forward to reading it this month - that and the fact that I couldn't resist getting two other of her books today in the bookshop (My Brother Michael - This Rough Magic).
Hi again, Veronique! ;) Nine Coaches Waiting and This Rough Magic are two of my three favorite MS books. Hope you enjoy them!
Veronique wrote: "Thanks :0) Now find the time to fit all these books in my already full reading plan... *lol*"

I think I have read most of hers but I am missing a few. I have never gotten around to reading My Brother Michael although I did buy a copy a while back so I may read that one soon. I wouldn't mind rereading Nine Coaches Waiting and The Ivy Tree and I loved her Merlin books as well!

I would say I probably prefer the older ones , although I do remember really liking Thornyhold which was one of her later ones. The one I have read most recently is The Gabriel Hounds.

Thornyhold or The Gabriel Hounds? I did enjoy them both. Thornyhold is a bit different to me from most of the other books I read by her but I like it very much. It's almost a bit of a magical fantasy type story and has a different sort of ending. The Gabriel Hounds is more typical of her books with a suspenseful mystery.

Welcome to all the new members. I discovered this group about 3 years ago but am particapating in my first buddy read, for NCW and it's been great fun to discuss with others! This year I decided to re read my favorite MS books. Those being
1. NCW
2. MWYT
3. TRM
4. Airs above Ground
5. The Moon-spinners
6. The Ivy Tree
I've never read Gabriel Hounds or Touch not the Cat. I've read the first 2 Merlin books and loved them.
I am a newbie to this group also but am so happy to see more members coming! I think the only MS books I haven't read yet is her Arthur/Merlin trilogy. I thought I had a favorite ("This Rough Magic") but just finished "Nine Coaches..." and I think every one of hers that I read will be my favorite!
I read all of those Arthurian books by Mary Stewart, the Merlin trilogy, The Wicked Day (Mordred's Story) and The Prince and the Pilgrim, and they were all excellent! :-)

I wish you could still buy a new hardcover for that! :-D

Welcome Skye, Marian and Marilyn! Please check out the buddy read thread to get updates on our group reads. They're great fun!
Marian wrote: "Could you Ladies enlighten me to what the term is..Retro reads? What genre is it?TIA:)"The Retro Reads group is for reads by older authors (in time, not necessarily written by old people...). I can't remember if there's an actual time frame for them, though, pre 1960/70, maybe? But Elizabeth Goudge, M.M. Kaye, D.E. Stevenson are a few examples.
