yep, a lot to live up :) but Pasha resembles the Nikolai from the Grisha world a bit... with his nice and kind side for his people.

Chapter 37-43: (view spoiler)[It's seems to me that Vika might have more row power, the nature and such but he has more an eye for detail, for crafting things! His "dream-benches" are wonderful and i want them in my garden right NOW! They seemed to fall for each other (and Pasha for her too). I don't want Nikolai to get weaker, it seems unfair because her father is helping her. and... Nikolais mother is back... (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[We finally get to see the games! I'm still a little confused about how they are ran and I feel like Nikolai and Vika were given no guidelines or really rules to start with but they both seemed to have no problem getting their first task underway.

I also don't think that it's a good idea for Nikolai to be hiding the truth from Pasha. Secrets don't make friends, Nik! (hide spoiler)]

You should read the 3rd Grisha book, I have a feeling you'd really like it :) And I can agree with you on Pasha, he's such a sweet soul. I hope that doesn't change.

okay, I just realised I haven't said anything yet in this thread. I went into this with no expectations and didn't know anything about the plot.
(view spoiler)[ but I'm loving the premise! it's very interesting and I love the magic in it. I agree with you that something will probably happen that'll allow both of them to win, although I do wish that wasn't the case. I think it'd be such a great story if we got the trials, and one of the really did come out on top, making the other burn, that's just my personal preference though hehe. the characters are also pretty interesting, especially Vika (her name is also very similar to what people call me so that make's it even more fun to read). I love how it's inspired by Russia, its a nice break from all the European inspired novels and it's giving me Shadow and Bone vibes for some reason (hide spoiler)]

I actually just finished Romanov which was a Russian history based book so I'm recognising a lot of the Russian terminology which I think really helps to understand things. Finished: (view spoiler)[After a while, I think I realised that one, probably Nikolai, was going to sacrifice themselves for the other. When he plunged the knife into himself I almost died. I loved Nikolai so much and I actually felt the pain in that moment. I knew there would be something to the knife because it was a gift from Galina, she gave it to him for a reason. I'm glad it was Vika who won but sad that Nikolai had to die. I think Pasha got completely out of character in the end. It just seemed so far from who he was although the circumstances weren't exactly great. I can't wait to read the sequel :) (hide spoiler)]
