It would have been fruitless to have her find out her lover was, in fact if not in name, her step-father. None of that money was clean, so who should have had it? I have to hand it to Harry for not being tempted by such possession of wealth, to go on and enjoy his honeymoon. Was it ethical? Probably not, yet how would he approach the Hawaii police with a story that sounded remotely credible to get them engaged in pursuit of Layla? Everyone concerned signed their money over to her, figuratively or actually.
I liked that he didn't go after Layla. She didn't kill anyone. Yes, she took the money that Aliso put in her box. Did she know that Aliso had been skimming from the mob, or did he tell her he needed to hide his money so he could divorce his wife? She didn't know that Aliso was her step-father. I think she is just starting her life over. I'm actually surprised Harry didn't pull her aside and tell her that she should get out of Hawaii and should choose an island that doesn't have extradition to the USA.
You make good points, Robin. I share your point of view.
Charlene, you're dead on about that money.
Charlene, you're dead on about that money.
There is absolutely zero evidence that Layla was involved in anything. So turning her in would serve no purpose and at least she the money is going to someone more deserving.
